CAPE MAY, N.J. (http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/08/10/former-navy-destroyer-to-become-part-reef-in-new-jersey/#ixzz1UdVYflWE)-- A former Navy destroyer will get a new purpose as an artificial reef off the coast of the Eastern U.S.
Officials say the 563-foot Arthur W. Radford will be the longest vessel ever sunk as an artificial reef in the Atlantic Ocean.

Boy, do I feel old. I knew the Radford when she was a brand-spanking new Spruance Class. Those of us on older, slower frigates thought she was Queen of the Seas.

A salute to her service, and those who sailed in her. :salute:

Wow. Yeah, sixes, I remember the Spruance class as top of the line, once upon a time. Now (or soon to be, anyway)... a fish house. Seems hard to imagine, somehow.

Still, if they sink her in shallow enough water, she won't be that far away to dive.
