I have a bit wider question about Graviteam productions. As I've found on their websites there are several tank games present:
- Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942
- Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943
- Achtung Panzer: Operation Star
- Steel Armor: Blaze of War
So I am confused which one is a tank simulator i.e. player can play as driver, gunner, commander inside tank?

Hi all, here`s Ivan the Producer for the International Release of "Steel Armor - Blaze of War". This is a FULL Battlefield simulation, which means that you have to take ALL strategic and tactical decisions and in addition to that, you also command plattoons in battle and of coruse your commanders tank, where you can play ALL positions, even loader ;)
This is 100% real simulation, no arcade or action, presented in great 3D optics.

OK Gorshkov it's very simple:
1) Steel Fury is a tank Simulator that is you play inside the tank as driver, gunner, commander or machine gunner.
2) Achtung Panzer both verions Kharkov 1943 and Operation Star are RTS( Real Time Simulators) like men of war, Heroes of WWII, Code name panzers, Theatre of War, Combat Missions etc. Thus you cannot play inside the tanks you simply play as general and move your units on a map.
3) Steel Armour Blaze of War is a combo or a hybrid of a Simulator and RTS which means you can play both inside a tank in the various positions and also on the tactical side that is you can move the units as you do it in an RTS.So it combines both types.

This is a pretty good description, but it lacks the fact that the Operation - basically the entire war - is fought turn-based. You have the big strategy map where you take your turns. Then each turn is fought in RTT ( Real Time Tactics) where you can jump into the commanders vehicles and take Simulation positions. Everytime a push, skirmish, battle has been fought, you return to the operational (strategy) map again for turn-based Strategy gameplay.
Hi Ivan,
Thank you very much for the information. It looks like a very interesting game !
Let me ask one question: when are you planning to release it?
In amazon.de they have December, 14th as release date... Is it accurate?
Thanks again for all the information !

This is allright for the GERMAN version, and the English one will be released soon after worldwide. The russian version is published / distributed by Novidisk, we (UIG) take the rest of the world.

Great!
So I'd rather wait for Steel Armor Blaze of War if it is intended to be released shortly! It's great this game puts together both Graviteam's "genres".
BTW, as Lighthouse Interactive - the publisher of STK42 and TvT - went bankrupt a while ago it is possible to buy STK42 anywhere? If so, at what price?
You can buy it here:

I do recommend it. It is a very good WWII tank sim !!
You can see the Graviteam forums here:

Hello everybody!
Since a few days I am playing around with the german version and I would say, this title is a must have!
Besides a few minor flaws (line of sight bug through bushes etc.) I have a big problem with the operation editor: it does
not work/crashes.The parameters/features were taken over from the ACHTUNG PANZER OPERATION STAR game engine
and I have no idea, how to get this to work.
The editor manuals are written in russian language, which I am not able to read. The game forum at Graviteam is also in Russian.
Can anybody help me?
The game itself and the quick battle editor run fine without
any problems. The AI does its job well and the player has the ability to call for Air/Arty-support(I love those MIG-27!).
There are no predefined missions, IMO the campaigns are too short and too restricted. Also, handling the M60 Tank is
a real challenge- STEEL FURY was more accessable and made more fun to me.
In a STEEL ARMOR promotion trailer I have seen a quite different terrain/landscape (eastern-or central europe woods
and buildings),but nothing in here in the DVD retail version.
Playing the Iranian side, there is even no air support for you
I have already done all campaings several times in a week
of playing,so the fun is limited.
Restricted to only 2 playable tanks and 3 rather flat campaign areas, I am looking forward to see soon some
updates and mods and more maps (polygons). At least there should soon come out a patch, which fixes the issues.
Like in STEEL FURY, I think the retail version is a good base
for future game enhancements/mods and gives the player
enough entertainment for a while.
Best regards
It says on the system requirements:"Game is not started on video cards series nVidia GeForce FX"
Apparently the current version of the game is only ATI Radeon compatible video cards...i hope they make it Nvidia Geforce FX series friendly soon.

No, what that means is that it's not playable on the FX line of nvidia cards, which are outdated and no longer receive driver updates. Of course I'm not sure why one would try playing the game on these in the first place since they would be too slow for the game even if supported.

All newer nvidia cards (from 6xxx up) are obviously supported.
