After a year or so, I've installing SH3 again with GWX, not a single regret :DL
But there are some things that are are still a mystery to me:

1. I can't escape from destroyers, I mean I turn away and dive right away after I fire my torpedoes, but I got dc'ed and send to the bottom.(literally)

2. Flags, how on earth can you see them?
The red flag of the British is recognizable from 1500m in daylight, but at Night? Sank 3 neutral vessels because of this.

3. Is it me or is changing the depth of the torpedo useless?
I've tested both the standard depth and the Draft +1m, but I didn't notice any change in damage.

4. Can anyone recommend some mods for GWX 3.0?
My career has ended (1939 :damn:) So I wanted a fresh start :)

1. Get deep asap and rig for silent running, also set engine speed to less than 2 knots.

2. That is how it was in RL

3. For nagnetic settins you have to change the depth settings for the different draughts the ships have or you run the risk of the torpedo simply sliding down the underside of the keel.

4. There are so many to choose from so I'll pick one of my own....Q Ship mod.

Think I said it wrong.

I always use magnetic torpedoes, but I'm not seeing any difference (damage) in setting the torpedo to explode under the ship or next to it.

I use magnetics when the AOB is unfavorable for a near 90 degree shot

1. Get to at least 150m, deeper if possible.
And go slow, like Jimbuna said.
Also rough weather is your friend. It degrades the escorts sonar efficiency.

2. As far as I'm concerned, neutrals should be running with lights at night.
If they're not, and they are in a warzone, that makes them a viable target :arrgh!:

Go to flank as soon as you fire and get as deep as possible before the DD's arrive overhead. Don't worry about noise at this point as depth is your friend. Ideally, you should drop speed to ahead slow and rig for silent running just before they reach effective weapon range.

The next step is to alter your course (hopefully) just before they release charges. Or, if it's too late for that, take advantage of their temporary 'deafness' and break sharply at flank. Once you slip away from the initial bombardment, resume silent running and try to keep either your bow or stern aimed toward the destroyer as much as possible to reduce your sonar profile and hopefully make it tougher for them to reacquire.

Good luck! :sunny:

Judging from the posts I guess my problem was moving away from the convoy first and then dive, instead of the other way around.

Ty! :salute:

That would probably do it... (Lead to you ending up on the bottom that is)...

Good luck and good hunting! :arrgh!:
