Hi guys just a newbie dropping in. Also I was deabting picking up SH5, but the whole DRM thing is putting me off. Seeing as I already got SH3 and SH4 Gold who would you guys say SH5 compare to them?

It's really a matter of personal taste if SH5 is good or not, my own opinion is that it is beautiful, and the vanilla version is flawed as is SH3 & 4, but once again the modders are making it even more beautiful and very playable. The DRM only now (iirc) requires connection when you start the game and to save online (I think offline saving is available).

The cost it is now it's cheap enough to try...

I haven't bought SH5 myself for that very reason, but I've read pretty much every thread on those boards consistently so I'll give it a quick shot anyway.

First off, the DRM has been reduced so you only have to log on when starting the game, not all the time. I'm still opposed to that on principle, but if you can live with that then get it. It's real cheap now.

SH5 is a whole different kind of game. If you want the latest, greatest graphics and to walk through the whole sub then you might like it. The trade-off is that in order to implement that they had to limit the subs to the Type VII. If you want to run a Type II in August 1939 or a Type IX or Type XXI you'll have to stick to the older versions, at least for the foreseeable future. That's the short version.
