Was watching a walkthrough on youtube tonight brought back memories to back in the 90s after purchasing a windows 95 pc one of the first games I brought was Zork Nemesis. Sister fell in love with Zork nemesis and ask if she could come over after work and play it twice a week, sure as long as you pay me a bottle of wine each time you got the game for the night. :D So twice a week I got free wine and she got to play her favorite game. That game got her into the myst games.

I'm trying to get hold of a copy of Zork Nemesis thought I might get round to playing it again and finish it this time. Lost the cds long ago. Seen it online for $5:99 but hopefully I can find it first here in New Zealand.

Don't pass it up if you like adventure/puzzle games ZN has a horror theme to it compared to previous Zork games. And from what ive read it runs on XP and Windows 7.

The story of Zork Nemesis centers around 4 prominent Alchemists in the Zork Empire who have been kidnapped by a mysterious figure from the Forbidden Lands known as the Nemesis. Your predecessor, Agent Bivotar, has succumbed to the Nemesis' curse in an attempt to investigate their disappearances. Searching through the deserted Temple of Agrippa, you soon realize that they have been murdered and that the captives have been previously researching together to control a power known as the Quintessentia, so called Philosopher's Stone, that is supposed to grant them immortality and unlimited powers. Guided by the Alchemists' spirits, you set off to retrieve the 4 elements and 4 metals that are needed to resurrect their bodies. However, when the sorrow tale of a pair of lovers named Alexandria and Lucien is unveiled, you discover a darker secret behind the Alchemists' evil doings. The line between good and evil is finally blurred when the truths are revealed on the identity of the Nemesis and his quarrel with the Alchemists.

Think you're better off with that than scrounging up some 15 year old discs somewhere. :hmmm:

I will take a look at that gog digital. The only ZN digital downloads ive come across online are the damn pirated ISO's :dead:. Might go with the gog download as a last resort if I can't track down a seller here who sells old releases hes bound to have a copy, his store is no longer online and ive lost his email address. :nope:

Think it would need DOSBox to run; nice thing about the GoG version is that it comes with that included and pre-configured, along with any other tricks or tweaks needed to run it on modern systems. And no DRM, ever, so that's one less thing to worry about screwing up.

Still amazes me I can buy a decade old game there, install it and it actually runs right off the bat. Can't guarantee it's the same with all games and for everyone, but so far for me it's been an excellent experience.

This gog is good stuff, if I can't find the game here I will try them. Was at their website before, taking a look around and read this:

Since customers from Australia, New Zealand and the ones paying in Euros pay more than the rest of the world, we give back the price difference (roughly $26 and $16, respectively) in free GOG bonus codes, as a form of store credit. Please read this FAQ (http://www.gog.com/en/support/the_witcher_2/_b_product_faq_b_) for details.

 Good for them for doing that.

One question though as you said their games are DRM free, do they rip the game remove the drm, add the latest patches etc., then resell. They would have the devs consent to do this I presume as they would be idiots to do otherwise and put a price tag on their copies. So I don't have any doubts they are doing anything illegal just how come they are allowed to do this. Or do they get hold of drm free copies from the publishers:hmmm: Gog would be the place to buy Diablo 3 since last time I read D3 will be infested with drm.

I see Witcher 2 there all patched up to the latest version for sale and works out cheaper if I buy the game from them than from New Zealand!.

:yeah:

It's all ancient games that are no longer supported and/or sold. As to how they convince publishers/developers to allow them to do this, not a clue, but somehow they manage it. Prolly the owners realise that this is the only viable way to still make some profit from classic titles.

You won't find Diablo 3 there though, not for another 10 years anyway. They only sell old games, with the sole exception being Witcher 2; that one was developed by CD Projekt Red, which is a sister company or subsidiary or something of theirs.

* ah right, and as far as I know that store credit thing only applies to Witcher 2. For all other games, the price is set in dollars: either 5.99 or 9.99. Since they don't accept other currencies, the problem doesn't apply to anything but Witcher 2 to begin with.

Yeah, I did notice the mainly classic games. I've seen gog mention in forums and just presumed it was some modders team, never bothered to look into it till now. These guys deserve a pat on the back for what they do.
