1. download 12noon display changer:
http://www.12noon.com/displaychanger.htm

direct link: http://www.12noon.com/files/reschange_312.zip

2. copy dc.exe/dc64.exe (depends on which OS version you've got - 32bit or 64 bit) file into your SH3 directory

3. create a new shortcut on your desktop and modify the "Target:" in shortcut properties:

C:\your_path_to_the_game\SilentHunterIII\dc64.exe -width=1920 -height=1200 -depth=32 -refresh=60 "C:\your_path_to_the_game\SilentHunterIII\sh3.exe"

where width and height are set to match your monitor's recommended resolution, "refresh" - is the refresh rate of your monitor and depth is set to true color (32 bit). the rest is pretty much - self explanatory..

4. run the game through the shortcut

VOILA! Its working. You dont need to use any dx3d modified files (which havent worked for me, anyway), you dont need to lower the resolution to be able to start the game, etc.

Thanks, Deathnoise :salute:

I think I'll give this program a go. The resfix thing looks like a bit of hassle for a computer village idiot like me and this might work in a way I could understand. It even has a command line type of approach in the shortcut :)

Judging from the screenshots people with a bigger resolution post it would look very Cameron Diaz (that is, gorgeous) to be able to run the game in a bigger resolution. :ping:

Do you know if this display changer -thing can be used together with SH3Commander?

I have used Display Changer in the past to force a different resolution when the game .exe was running... I edited the target of the SH3 shortcut on the desktop as described. As far as I could tell it made no difference whether I launched the .exe file from the modified shortcut OR used Commander, it worked the same either way.

I see. Thanks, FK. In the mean time I already tried to load SH3 alone with the Display Changer and guess what --- it crashed :wah:

Oh well, no eye candy for me. I think I can live with 1024 x 600 until I maybe get a better computer one day.
