Police issued a $445 ticket for a violation of the state’s obscene bumper sticker law
A woman with a questionable bumper "sticker" — namely, a set of red plastic testicles hanging from the back of her pickup truck — has sparked a court trial that will reexamine the line between free speech and obscenity. Officers ticketed Virginia Tice for her vehicle’s bold ornamentation, citing a direct violation of the state’s obscene bumper sticker law that justifies her $445 fine, issued in early July, Live 5 News (http://www.live5news.com/story/15154990/sc-woman-gets-jury-trial-for-display) reported.
"Genitalia is offensive," says Bonneau Chief of Police Franco Fuda. "As a law enforcement officer, I'll advise that if it warrants a citation, I'll issue a citation."
The law in question states that "a sticker, decal or emblem is indecent when it describes, in a patently offensive way... sexual acts, excretory functions or parts of the human body."
John Caddell, who also owns a pair of truck testicles — his are metallic — says police are misinterpreting the law.
"They’re talking about human body parts," says Caddell. "I don't think these are human body parts... it looks like a chrome plated door knocker."
Tice's attorney, who claims his client’s conduct was not illegal, expects a trial next month. He says Tice is still angry about the incident and believes she has been treated unfairly.

They're gross, that's for sure. Illegal... Maybe.
I do lose a little respect for people or their vehicles when I see them. Especially motorcycles - it just isn't right.

Free speech you say? I assume you are sarcastic.
Or do you mean that they should also legalize men walking on public without any kind of cover on lower body (pants, shorts, skirts, kilts...)? That would be interesting sight.
$445 fine is a bit much IMO!!:nope: The person should have been given a warning, then if the person refused or put it back again later then they would deserve to be fined!:hmmm:

My previous post didn't mean that I would offend from seeing people walking nude. Especially beautiful ladies*! :D
Except that it would be a bit killjoy... no space for imagination.

Come on though, the "police chief" of this little village obviously has great concerns for the wellbeing of children, you can see why he wants money off a woman over some balls:rotfl2:

I think the only real questions are why is this scumbag still in uniform and why isn't the crook stuck in jail where he belongs?
Not wanting to be too moralistic on this topic of "decency", but just because you are screwing the mayors daughter it doesn't make the "police" dept and municipal court your own little family cash machine.

I believe a law banning the big tangling nuts from the bumper has been passed in a few states. I do not see hanging nuts as free speech. The hanging testicles are unnecessary adornment of the vehicle IMO.
I'm sure the jury will be hung. :O:
Never understood why people are so insecure with theirs that they feel the need to add them to their vehicle.

It's usualy the other way around. Those that are the most secure will display this kind of ''dirty humor'' as they will find it as only fun and wacky and those that are insecure will condemn it the most. I always wondered how can one be offended by body parts (or cheap imitations) :hmmm:

I wonder what that country hick of a "policeman" with a reputation of corruption, malicious prosecution, entrapment and contempt for law would make of this disgusting thing....(don't click if history is offensive)

Surely driving down the road and seeing those genitalia would cause him to have a fit of faux outrage if he could fine someone for it:yeah:

I don't think primitive artwork equates to a set of rubber balls tangling from the class 3 trailer hitch on a filth belching Dodge Hemi. :O: I can see it now in 150 years, a set of these balls hanging in the Museum of Natural History on display for all to admire as part of the cultural heritage in backwoods America! :har:

It is all relative.
The complaint from that person was that genitalia are offensive, if genitalia are offensive then genitalia are offensive.
Look at it this way did the puritans or the victorian prudes differntiate at all between ancient art or modern occurances in their attacks sparked by their own hangups?
Or to put it another way do those crazy taliban pricks differentiate between ancient historical relics and modern mass produced porn(apart from keeping a secret stash of the porn because you know what them vocal prudes are really like)
