Just reminding of the existence of this so far free military game that is under constant developement, "Armored Brigade". I linked to it before in past years, but once a year it deserves a new knock-knock for all the newbies here who have not heared of it before, because every couple of weeks the author has released an updated new version of it.

current version: 0.711

The author claims the engine has now reached its final state, and that he now focusses on putting together the documentation. But you can make good use of the game already now by making some reasonable guesses or reading the forum.

Maybe it is pointless to use this free game if you already have a dedicated commercial title of this format and scaling, but for all others: highly recommended! You do not get often good stuff of this quality for free.

His site also contains a forum where you can ask and make suggestions.

I would love it if the guy making this and the guys still developing Steel Panthers MBT would get together. Seems to me a no brainer - Armored Brigade could benefit from all the work and research that went into SPMBT and the SPMBT guys really need to migrate that otherwise excellent game to a modern, flexible engine.

I'm a complete fan of winSP:MBT, it's for me the best wargame i ever played, and often i have some generated campaigns with it, i had only a few small scale battles through PBEM but it was always great fun.

But i always dreamed of it having a real time option, with the same exact game mechanics, depth, ballistic calculations, line of sights, OOB, nations, year-dependant equipment, map variations, etc.. , though honestly it would be an insane amount of rework

And Armored Brigade has some of those ingredients, it's a very very good real time wargame, worthy of much more attention than it has.
