I changed the loadout for 88 and 105mm guns in the basic.cfg file, should this be enough?
What changes would you make, more ammo, more AP or more HE ... shorter charging time, you can do with SH3 Commander...

Probably.
Make a JSGME mod with your new file, activate it and load the game, either naval academy or blank campaign.
Then check if it is what you want; if not, check back.

i tried editing GUNS_SUB.sim with S3D.
changed ammo_storage but the game does not alter the ammo in game. After i close the game the guns_sub.sim file resets to former values?
anyone an idea?
i also tried changing it in the basic.cfg file did not help,
does anybody have a solution?
thx
You will always show zero rounds for the cannon until you manually order the gun crew to load the first shell. Order the deck gun manned. Go to the gun station (F10). Click on the shell. The white bar will fill as the gun is loaded and your ammo count will appear. When loaded, retire the gun crew. They will automatically load each successive round as needed BUT YOU HAVE TO MAKE THEM LOAD THE FIRST ONE.
To manually edit the files for ammo loadout:
There are TWO sets of values you must change in /SilentHunterIII/data/Cfg/Basic.cfg/
Make these values anything you want but the numbers must match in both locations; 250 and 3000 are the GWX defaults, and GWX gives only HE for the deck gun by default
Located after [Torpedo_Type10] and before [Color_0]
[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS1] ;105mm
MaxAmmoPerSlot=250
[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS2] ;88mm
MaxAmmoPerSlot=250
[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS3] ;37mm
MaxAmmoPerSlot=3000
[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS4] ;20mm
;MaxAmmoPerSlot=3000
MaxAmmoPerSlot=3000
Located further down, after [Conning_Type12] almost at the end of the file
[AMMO_TYPE0];10.5cm SK C/32
Idx=0
Year=1939
Month=1
;AP=40 <= these are the stock SH3 default values
;HE=160
;SS=20
AP=0 <= these are the default values in GWX
HE=250
SS=0
Renown=0
[AMMO_TYPE1];8.8cm SK C/35
Idx=1
Year=1939
Month=1
;AP=40 <= these are the stock SH3 default values
;HE=160
;SS=40
AP=0 <= these are the default values in GWX
HE=250
SS=0
Renown=0
[AMMO_TYPE2] thru [AMMO_TYPE10] are for the AA guns. Change values if you wish. GWX default is 3000.

i have to add i do not use gwx :)
No problem.
Just edit the .cfg file to carry as much of whatever ammo you want. Just be sure the quantities match exactly in the two editing locations.
And when you first go to the deckgun, click on the ammo icon to get he shell count to show. Then give em hell!
