While I'm thinking about it, do you guys want to do the extra WR-RB option? We can do this. I also like the 4 divisions instead of the 2. Did you guys like this?

Does the WR\RB flex add another player to the active roster or does it replace one of the WR or RB positions?
Would we have:
QB-WR-WR-WR-WR\RB-RB-RB-TE-K-DEF?
Or does the flex position remove one of the WR or RB positions?
I'm in favor of 2 divisions. It becomes the most fair if one of the divisions has considerably stronger teams that the other division. We ran into that two years ago when we tried more than two divisions. The guy with the second best record in the entire league didn't get into the playoffs.
-----just one opinion.

My understanding is that it replaces one of the WR positions. You'd have QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, RB/WR, TE, K, DEF.
As far as the division, couldn't we just set it so 6 teams get in to a 3 round playoffs, and the top 2 seeds have a first round bye? Division winners are automatic in, and the other two seeds are determined by record.

Actually, I think a flex position can be set up any way the Commish likes.
examples
WR\RB\TE (instead of a mandatory TE)
WR\RB\QB ---Some leagues do allow 2 QB.
And some make the flex an added position to what they already have.
I prefer the current rules\roster setup.

Okay, I have nothing going on at work today, so guess what I'm going to work on:hmmm:.
3 ideas for divisions:
2
3 (the idea would be you must win your division for play-offs, plus one wild card.)
4 must win division to make PO (mimic real life)
It seems everybody likes the flex position; which "extra spot would you prefer:
WR,TE
WR,TE,RB
WR,RB
keep "as is"

4 divisions would be cool.
But maybe if we kept 2 it would make things more even.
For the flex position i say either WR/TE WR/RB gets my vote.

I guess the 2 divisions thing seems fair. It makes it more fair as a playoff berth is based on record instead of where you've arbitrarily been placed. But if you did 4, I guess that's alright as well.
I really like the idea of a WR/RB flex position. It would help spread out the demand for both positions, as well as create some strategy in picking who to use as your flex each week. TE is meh...If you wanted to use it, I wouldn't object. But I would bet that more people use a RB or WR flex player instead of a TE so it becomes kind of a moot point.
RickC Sniper
08-14-11, 08:58 PM
4 divisions would mean only 3 teams per division, and the last time we did 4 divisions (4 teams per division because we had 16 teams) there ended up being two inactive managers in one division by dumb luck so it was just a "beat one team and you are in the playoffs situation". Rather anticlimactic.
Three divisions....am ok with that because I THINK this group will all be active but there is always that risk to consider.
So two divisions is what I prefer.
Flex-Suggestion:
RB\WR unless you want to drop the TE mandatory rule then RB\WR\TE
Reason:
Tight ends DO I think have the least amount of depth at position so RB\WR\TE is a pretty dynamic flex that leagues like, but it just replaces the TE position and doesn't add another roster spot. It DOES increase your flexibility a lot though when deciding who to play each week. RB\WR would add a roster spot, correct?
But I vote leave roster as is.

So we've changed it from TE to WR/TE? Isn't that going to put even more demand on the WR position than we already have with 3 WR's?

The mock draft has been working fine. The added roster spot leaves one fewer player on the bench.....and makes it more difficult to cover the bye weeks.
Sorry, I'm not in favor of it.

Test works fine here too. Also not in favor of adding a roster spot, but in favor of modifying one of the WR slots to owners's option of WR/RB.

Indeed; I feel very lucky with the outcome.
Given the circumstances, other than preselection, there wasn't much I could have done about it. As the draft was kicking off, I was hauling the gangway up at the lightship; Irene did her best to leave me in the wet spot.
This was after tying the docent shack to the deck on Torsk and rigging the boat for dive (as best she can anymore, anyway), before cutting shore power and leaving her in the dark... if you've not done it, a totally dark sub is amazing, by the way.
Between hurricane prep last week and the inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix this Labor Day weekend, I've been lucky to have time for anything else.
Still, downloaded the Yahoo! Fantasy Football app for my phone, so I'll at least be a little more likely to be able to accomplish something.
