Returning to SH4?

I was think of coming back to SH4 as im disappointed with a few thing in SH5 like the sinking/flooding mechanic, I found watching the target break,list, completely roll very satisfying.

I'll have to re-buy SH4 as my copy got damaged in storage, Am I ok with just buying SH4 or do i need to re-buy SH4 and the addon U-Boat missions...

Then once Ive bought it what mods would be recommended? I dont have the realism that high yet but I do, do manual targeting/firing.

Seeing as pretty much all the major mods require you to be running version 1.5, and the only way to get this is with the U-Boat expansion, I would strongly recommend getting this.

Get the Gold edition, it comes bundled in one pack.

I use TMO with nothing else and it has satisfied me so far.

Depends on your definition of casual. If you want changes without the realism of a mod like TMO, probably try GFO.

Trigger Maru Overhauled is the best imo, and the Run Silent Run Deep campaign cannot be beaten for realistic traffic.

I just made the leap to SH5 and yeah the sinking mechanics are lame compared to 4. There is a mod but I don't think it's terribly compatible with most of the other mods for 5. That said, sinking mechanics aside, once modded 5 is really rather excellent, if a different flavour to 4.

I remember using alot of Websters mods last time I played SH4. Just a quick question though I couldn't see if this has his other mods such as US Torpedo Fix, missing voices etc..
