I've recently started playing Silent Hunter III using the SH3 Commander mod, and - though this may seem like a dumb question - I was wondering if there was a similar mod for Silent Hunter 4. If there is, what's the name of it?

I wish there was. I miss having to replace the randomly missing crew members for various reasons, like "transferred to another boat" or "killed in a bar fight" or "still hunger over after recently aquiring a SDS." Okay, okay, maybe not the last one but it should have been there. :D Of course, there were so many other good features too. It was (and still is!) an overall great program.

You mean, a mod that gives german boats and patrols to SH4? Operation Monsoon is what you're looking for. But if you mean a mod that brings to SH4 the same kind of changes that 'commander' has brought do SH3, then it's difficult to compare, all supermods add so much in so many different ways that a compairson is impossible.

Commander is not a mod, but an application. And no, no supermod gives the entire roster of crew names for an entire navy like Commander does. No supermod allows the player to adjust multiple parameters like wave height and gun ROF with a click. No supermod gives names to ships.

And no, there is no SH4 Commander. It could be done, but it would take a programmer with the skills of JScones, who won't do it. Maybe someday, but I doubt it.

So it is possible then? I had presumed it wasn't due to some fundamental differences between SH3 and 4.

So maybe one day then! Let's hope so, it really adds so much to the game.

Oh it's certainly possible. It would take a first-class programmer to make it happen, though.

When you figure out how to do it, please include niclolas (Easy Aob mod), gutted (Solution Solver), nisgeis (3d TDC and Radar Range mod), capnScurvy (OTC mod), aaronblood (MoBo program) and Armistead (he knows all the Convoy and TF routes and dates,and times and locations of all major battles) as crew members for the SS Barbarinna. Thank you :D

None. JScones wrote the code, and owns it outright. He's very unlikely to let anyone else touch it. The job would have to be from scratch.
