Quite simple really,we all like video games here, but which was your favourite game of all time?,and we all have them.We werent all playing SH3 back when we were kids ;)
For me,hands down,no question about it was the absolutely legendary unbeatable XCOM Enemy Unknown & XCOM Terror From The Deep for PC.
For those that are unfamiliar here is a brief description of the series:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-COM
I still have the original discs and may even buy a second hand PS1 from Amazon just to play them again,as my old PS1 naturally died after all the hammer it got hehehe
God bless XCOM
Cheers :salute:

Splinter cell has been fun, but crysis was a bit disappointing. Then again I prefer shooters like Rainbow six used to be, before this vegas nonsense.
As for fallout, 1 and 2 are greats, fallout 3 was meh, new vegas is a bit better but still in the meh territory.

Yeah, the Rainbow Six games were good,in fact most Tom Clancy games are good, from a tactical view of course.
Do you play the Sid Meier games, like Alpha Centauri and the Civ series?
Alpha Centauri was amazing in its day,and Civ 3 was great,Civ 4 not so good due to the comic like graphics, and I dont think my system could handle Civ 5.
I am currently waiting for Elder Scrolls Skyrim, from what i've seen I may need some extra tissues at hand ;)
OMG! what about Deus Ex?! that and XCOM were my favs! (how could I forget this legend?!)
The new Deus Ex (Human Revolution scheduled for late 2011) looks promising too.

Mine are (in order of systems)
Nintendo 64: Extreme G (1 of only 2 racing game i play to date), Super smash brothers, 007
PS1: Crash bandicoot, Crash Bash, Crash team racing(2nd racing game)
PS2: Mercenaries: Playground of destruction, GTA San Andreas, Final Fantasy XII (can be very frustrating some times), Socom: Combined Assault, and Heroes of the Pacific.
PC:
Empire Total War (has so much potential its scary, wonderful game),
Battlefield 1942 complete collection,
Call of Duty World at War (nazi zombie maps are free to PC users, haha),
Silent hunter 4 & 5,
Counter Strike Source,
Day of Defeat source,
Battlestations pacific,
Company of Heroes,
Fallout New Vegas (F3 was beyond ridiculously bugged on PC), and
Halo: Combat evolved.
Those i didnt mention werent *all* that worth mentioning. i liked them, but either they are the type of game you play through a couple times and get sick of the repetitiveness, or they werent that good to begin with.
Left for Dead 2 and Bioshock 2 are works in progress, havent played enough of either to speculate.
OOh lets see...
CBM 64: Elite, Paradroid, Infocom Adventures.
Atari ST: Dungeon Master, Captive, Starglider
PC: Xcom, IL2 Sturmovik, Lotsa Matrix Games, Aces of the Deep, SH1 and SH3, Wing Commander Ultima Underworld 1&2
And lots more
Cheers

Victoria II is currently my favourite game. It's easy to mod and if Paradox keeps releasing expansions like with Europa Universalis III (every expansion mind blowingly improved gameplay) it has a potential of a game I'll keep playing for years.

I would have to say right now that my favorite would be Fallout:New Vegas because it has the feel of the old Fallout and Fallout 2 and according to the Fallout Wiki has many elements that would have been in Blackisles Fallout 3 aka Van Burren(some things changed to fit the NV story). I suppose this is because Obsidian is has lots of folks that made the "old" Fallouts. I really like Old World Blues alot as it really feels like the old games to me.I also liked the Dead Money and Honest Hearts as well they had good story to them.
I like Fallout 3 because it did bring the series back to life but it needs mods to truly be enjoyable while New Vegas does not.
I feel the same way about STALKER series good games but they need mods to feel right and I cant say that a game is truly great if you need mods to bring out that greatness.

That's very hard. I tend to like the games which I bought very much.
No point in buying a game which you don't think great. Would be a waste of money and time to me.
I can't decide if it's only one.
But since I also saw table top game being nominated then I'd say this
http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/20551/shogun
It's a German designed game and the gameplay impresses me very much. I think the design is BRILLIANT.

I used to buy a lot games so this is a difficult task. I list my favourites by category:
Strategy:
Rome Total War - absolute number one! :yep:
Victoria: An Empire Under Sun
Civilization 2 & 3
Settlers 3 & 4 (not combat side of them)
Sim City 4 - fits best to this category
Space Empires 4
Action:
Hitman: Blood Money - very fun game! One problem, I have lost the disc :wah:
Fallout series: Fallout 1 & 2 (refuse to work on my PC :06:) and Fallout 3. Fallout: New Vegas maybe my next fav when I get my hands to it.
GTA: San Andreas - very fun, especially because my game got bugged and I got M-4 with infinite ammo, lucky me! :D
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
Simulators:
Silent Hunter 4
Flight Simulator X - just would like to know why my approach to Stockholm - Arlanda in 737 always fails. :hmmm:
I and my brother have (available to both) combined collection of about 30 games. First being Flight Simulator for Windows 95 and second being Grand Theft Auto. I was about 12 when I bought then brand new original GTA. Nobody asked about age in 1998! :haha:

Indeed, that's why i'm surprised the 2 game threads haven't been relocated yet.
I was going to go all old school and say 'Elite' or 'Lords of Midnight', both of which I loved and played to death. But if I'm honest with myself I'll have to say 'Championship Manager/Football Manager''. No other game has ever come close for the amount of my life I've wasted playing that thing. No other game has me day dreaming about a post match press conference after my team have lifted the cup. No other game has ever made me throw a boot at my monitor.
In fact, I'm off to play it now to celebrate the start of the season. :yeah:
Arcade Games -
Missile Command
Space Invaders
Star Wars
Asteroids
Sega Mega Drive -
Mercs
Road Rash II
Flashback
Abrams Battle Tank
PC
The free versions of the old Dos Games of Steel Panthers
Panzer General II

*phew* I got blisters on my fingers!
I'd have to say IL-2 in all its forms with mods. It's the one I keep going back too even though it was a bit rough round the edges when it was first released, it's certainly the benchmark for combat flight games IMHO.

For me on the PS1 my favorite without a doubt is final fantasy 9. Played plenty of good games in my lifetime.
Zelda Ocarina-Majoras-Wind waker are brilliant.
Vampire Slayer mod for HL1. That was always fun with friends at around 1am at a LAN party. Lights off, headphones on, screams and laughter ensued.
Heaps of other games out there that I love
I think the best flight sim was Janes WW ll fighters now that I got it all modded out and it will run on a 20 dollar machine all day long.
SH 4 is a top notch subsim and SH 3 with the S-boote mod is sway cool.
Played Metal of Honor series and Brothers in Arms, Aces High 2 online was something else.

I like games that give me the most freedom to play how I want, and open worlds in which to do so. So for me, my favourites in no particular order:
SH3 or 4
Fallout 3/ New Vegas
FSX
Arma 2
Sledgehammer427
07-25-11, 02:17 AM
I'm a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC Nut. (Planning on getting a "marked by the zone" tattoo sometime in the near future)
I miss playing that game. THe only reason I don't is because my poor computer is hooked up in the attic, which was 115 degrees Fahrenheit last I checked (Excellent for immersion when playing GTR 2 though, race cars don't have air condidioning!)
I loved playing Metro 2033. Test Drive Unlimited, GTR 2 with the Power and Glory mod, and GTR 2 with the ALMS mod.
