View Full Version : Engine Room Sound
:timeout:Quick question: Is it just me or is there no sound in the engine room.
With those big diesels it should be the loudest room of the submarine but even at full speed i canīt hear much, all the noise comes from the aft room..
Edit:Checked again and it looks like i got a sound problem.
1.No Engine sound in the engine room
2.amb_OceanSkyline_Q.wav is playing all the time even under water
What can i do here?

solved the missing engine-sound by using the Sh.sdl file of SubFlag 008
but the problem of the ambSkyline_Q.wav under water persists..

First, I guess you have checked you have:-
C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Sound\amb_Underwater_Q.wav
Look through your mods for any that change this .wav
When you use a mod that has sounds with it and they only replaced sounds already in the game - they don't have a sh.sdl file (Capthelms SH5 Audio Mod ?)
When mods add sounds that are not in the stock game they include the sh.sdl file so that the new sound can be played. Each mod that has this file will overwrite the one before resulting in some of the sounds they add being lost.
What you can do is make your own sound mod.
make a folder and place all the sound (.wav) files from your mods into that folder. (you don't need to do this but it helps keep track of the sounds)
Then merge the sh.sdl files together (win merge or TDWs sound editor) and place this in the same folder.
If some mods add the same sound, you should pick the one you prefer and merge it last so its duplicates are the ones used.
Great advise!Thank you!
I found out that the problem only occurs when i press alt-tab so there is a way around, not great but now i know where the problem comes from, well almost.
