Liberal translation from Finnish lyrics:

Today is a lucky day
No sign of trouble
Today is a lucky day, and I'm happy

I could never be happier
Never, never
Never happier
Than today I could be

If sometimes sorrow troubles you
It troubles, it troubles
Then you can dig the earth
And drown the troubles

Today is my lucky day
No sign of trouble
Today is a lucky day, and I'm happy

Remember a friend
And the trouble goes away
You can surprise the other [friend]And if those idiots I call friends are my friends at all, they will make sure that only the first three verses are being sung while burying the coffin.

Doesn't have to be this version, but:

Yes I know it's long but if I'm gonna be dead forever the least people can do is sit still for 25 minutes. :O:

I agree, funerals aren't for the dead, they're for the living, not to mention it's big business. It seems funerals are often the only time you see family after many years. After the last one I attended I wrote this lil poem.

Buried Alive

Now that I'm dead, friends gathered round
The pastor speaking was finally found
He was a "good man" someone had said
but I only hear it now that I'm dead

They all gather at my last place
They all walk by and stare at my face
"He looks so good" I know this is true
Dead that I am, I look better than you

Lying here getting dirt thrown in my face
as in life, even death's a disgrace
I watch them all and with a sigh
for them to hug, did I have to die

Marg hugs Bill, "Good to see you, dear"
"How long has it been,".... merely ten years
Ten years she cries "How can that be"
then kisses another, oh watch how she flees.

The farewells have all been said.
I guess I'm alone here, finally dead.
Back to your lives, wherever they be,
soon they will be looking at you,

not looking at me.

Very nice. "He looks so nice" reminds me of an old Bill Cosby skit: "'Doesn't he look like himself?' If I laid on my bed and looked like that they'd say' Oh my God, we thought you were dead!'"

depends on my mood...

either this, which is also my birthday song:
Mojo Nixon - You Can't Kill Me ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auFz6AYB0h4)
why invent a new melody when there is already a good, fitting one (The song goes to the melody of Amazing Grace)

or that
EA80 - Balsam (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCY4-h88xEA)
just a wonderful song, helped me to cope with much pain

I think both shall be played.

It would have to be some lively up song that will make everyone at my funeral happy. Ive told family I don't want people to mourn for me I want them to enjoy my death and party in celebration of my passing. Bury me then go home and have a big feast and party hard. They must stick to how I want my funeral or I will come back to haunt them for the rest of their lives if they don't!:stare:

I think Bob Marley's song 'lively up yourself' would work.

Ry Cooder's "See You In Hell, Blind Boy" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Km1gSuDzN8)
(Only, to avoid any unnecessary discomfort, I would probably want it listed as something a little less jarring, like "There's Too Many Saints In Heaven So They're Sending Me Back.")

Sadly, I could not find a bagpipe version of this song online, I tried all name variations, nothing came up...
But I see this as a quest, next week I will look into the archives at work. There must be a lunatic somewhere who played and recorded this song on bagpipes. Don't die before we found it, man!

If the bagpipes are unavailable, a live performance on this instrument:

would be an acceptable performance.

Sandstorm - on loop.

And "Top Gun Anthem" at the burial.

And I want my showing to have an open bar.

Make it a celebration of life - not - well - a funeral.

Agreed. That is why I want Walking On Sunshine. I hate the song myself, but put it on in a group and everyone smiles, laughs and dances.. even if they are all just taking the mic on the awful and overly cheery song :D

There are a few.

None that would make people sad however. To me death is mission complete than game over.

However if anyone wants to raise eyebrows I think this will do just that. People will think God damn it he's not taking his own death seriously. :haha:

Just remember that the living have to continue to listen to the chosen song in the future, and it may become unbearable. I had a close friend die in '92 and he had Snap's Rhythm is a Dancer played, for the next decade whenever I heard it starting on the radio, or worse, in a pub/club I had to remove myself or I'd just burst :wah:, I'm a little better now.

Maybe better picking something awful.:03:

I mean this thread about the song we would like to play at our funeral and not to go about our fantasy on how our funeral should be.:O:

Frankly I don't care what would become of my body after I died. I mean I don't care at all. I used to want to be buried now I simply don't care. Chop it to pieces and feed it to the dog or anything simply don't care. Maybe a cremation. Maybe that HunterICX song from Queen would be fitting during my cremation.
