We should pool our collective minds together and make a movie titled: Prequel
And then see Hollywood make a prequel of a Prequel

YES! A Prequel to rival all Prequels before it that reeked of Remakes.
Looks kinda good, actually.

:hmmm: Hmmm, I loved the John Carpenter one and this one seems to have the same atmosphere so I'm actually interested to see this one. I just hope they don't don't make the alien using 3d computers, some old school special effects would serve this movie well.
P.S. A reboot prequel has actually caught my interest, don't let me down! (They probably will.)

This should just be a series of sonogram videos linked together with the fetuses labeled "Anakin Skywalker," "Ellen Ripley," "Harry Potter," "James Logan"...

Well lets slow down a minute folks.
its not like its Alien or Robocop or something they have made 25 versions of.
The really scary film version of "the thing" as the one made in 82
since then i would wager that we have an entire generation of people who are more or less unfamiliar with one of the greatest Sci Fi films in history. (My humble opinion)
personally i think the film trailer looked good, at least it didnt have a 40 foot tall transforming robot

Go to your local library, or order online. Who Goes There? , 1938 short story by John W. Campbell. The very original that the movies are all based on. Wonderful story. :sunny:

I may watch it when it comes on DvD, but I don't have high expectations.
Good thing I have the restored version of the original to fall back on.
Awesome movie!

Carpenters The Thing is my favorite movie of all time, I just hope this prequel does it justice, though I doubt it.

Hardly fixed. The remake was ok from a special effects standpoint, but the 1951 version is still my favourite.

Really? I had no clue. My mistake, and my apologies. I actually prefer the Carpenter version, mainly because it's much more faithful to the story.
But that's what I get for assuming. :sunny:

John Carpenters the thing is still a good movie, good ol Kurt. A per thing movie has gotta make money, right. But no prequel will ever, for any reason that man can come up with, beat "Tremors the legend begins" :haha:
Remake of the Classic John Carpenter film which was a re-make itself of the 1950's BW film "The thing from another world". Good to see Hollywood still feeding on itself.
Looks like they're keeping the soundtrack of the JC film though, which was as cool and atmospheric as the film itself. Nice :DL
