Taste buds tickled by the relative ease of creating and inserting my own versions of shortcut.tga, OfficerA.tga, Mainorders.tga plus the other shortcut icon displayed on the UI i've decided to try and see if i can't mod "integrated orders" and Grosse anzeigen" together.

Looking in the respective folders i can see the only difference is an extra folder plus variations in Menu_1024_768.

Am i right in assuming i can group the folders together then run Microsoft Word and use that to compare the 2 different menu files looking for the variations..Then create a new text doc and cut and paste one of the menu files there while checking for the differences in the other menu file and pasting them into the end of the index sequence making sure to extend the numbering so that it is consecutive to the last entry...

Example..

File A has a listing

[G09 I1]
Name=Page_CareerHist
Type=1027;Menu page
ItemID=0x9000000
ParentID=0x0
Pos=0,0,0,0
LoadingMode=1

File B has the same listing looking like this

[G09 I1]
Name=Page_CareerHist
Type=1027;Menu page
ItemID=0x9000000
ParentID=0x0
Pos=98,0,260,32
LoadingMode=1

The 5th line is different...so if G09 I1 was the last number in that sequence could i then paste the section from menu file 2 after the G09 I1 section and simply rename it G09 I2?

I'm not the best at formulating this sort of thing so i hope someone can understand what it is i'm trying to ask...

ps...Jimbuna...the giga download plus the extra downloads to get GWX 2.01 up and running has kinda put me off....so i'm going to take the easier option and carry on trying to get a usuable compass......for now!

I did this to combine U-Jagd Tools and Integrated Orders - the former mod comes with instructions for adding what needs to be added to the menu .ini file and a few changes that need to be made to existing entries. It was time-consuming but certainly doable.

I've also combined the commands_xx.cfg files of numerous mods with the ones from Integrated Orders, as have numerous other people, using the "contrast and compare" option that you describe.

I think with the example you gave, though, you may be looking at two different versions of one entry that is supposed to refer to one specific thing. Simply renumbering one version and adding it to the file may cause a problem when whatever it refers to has two separate sets of specifications controlling its size, location, etc.

Others will no doubt know for sure and be able to offer more advice.

I agree with FK.

The general principle that you outline in the first half of your original post is correct, but if you follow through with your specific example you're likely to encounter issues.

Great, thanks guys....The actual example was just a small section i used as a demonstration....it has nothing to do with the file merge.

And yeh....theres a ton of text to merge so it's going to take a while but to read i'm on the right track and that it's doable was what i wanted to hear..:03:

Donner und blitzen!...i saw no conflicts last night but today the first variation in entry i find is this...

[G22 I2]
Name=Help list
Type=1029;Static text
ItemID=0x22000071
ParentID=0x22000000
Pos=450,668,480,600
Font=14
Text=0
TextFlags=0x0

[G22 I2]
Name=Help list
Type=1029;Static text
ItemID=0x22000071
ParentID=0x22000000
Pos=400,668,480,600
Font=14
Text=0
TextFlags=0x0

I guess this would be the type of thing you were both refering to where the Name=Help list has 2 different positions.....So, creating a new section numbered [G22 I3] with the different position marker would cause conflict?
