Hi,
Have anyone seen these?
Storm Frontline Nations: (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/debut-trailer-storm-frontline/717391)
Gamespot review (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/storm-frontline-nation/review.html)
And this one have nice graphics from the developers of Ruse:
Wargame: European Escalation (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/wargame-european-escalation/news/6318941/e3-2011-wargame-european-escalation-first-look-preview?sid=6318941&mode=previews)
2011 will be a good year for gaming :salute:

Anyone who remembers last year's real-time strategy game R.U.S.E. knows
that it was a solid strategy game with an original deception mechanic.
Stopped reading right there.

I stopped when I saw 'Gamespot' on the top of the page. :haha:
Seriously though, thanks for the heads-up. If Wargame is as realistic as they claim it to be, it might be quite intersting. Just gonna have to wait and see if the mechanics are decent.:salute:

As long as it's not like R.U.S.E., it should be fine. :shifty:
I'll be willing to give it a try, if only because it's a Cold War game. Don't see a whole lot of those these days...

Ruse wasn't my cup of tea either. To much clicking around with the mouse and to much to keep an eye on at the same time :O:
Storm: Frontline Nation is turn based on a map that looks like good old panzer general. (can't compare those...) and it looks allright. It's been a long time since I have seen a game that wasnt RTS :yep:
I hope the mechanics are good and that it's not just another game packed in good graphics, like alot of games unfortunately are today.

Not to mention the ridiculous unit/counter-unit gameplay ala AT gun can only
engage tanks.

As well as the fact that the titular Ruses were nothing more than gimmicky special powers...

Trailer for Wargames EE: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/12/wargame-european-escalation-trailer-is-hot/
That rather killed my interest. At least the unit scale seems to be right now. :hmmm:

They should make a modern (and a ww2 version) of Supreme Commander :D

Or just SupCom 2.
Ow wait... no, no maybe they shouldn't.
I dunno, think with a modern or WWII version I'd just end up moaning about the ballistics and penetration being off.

Ooh, neato: He Rues The Day: Wargame (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/23/he-rues-the-day-wargame/)
RUSE it is not. As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. Sounds excellent.
I'm guessing it will fall between Men of War and things like Combat Mission and Theatre of War in terms of scale, including abstraction of weapon ranges. I doubt they could have the proper values in such a detailed world of that scale. MoW and ToW can barely pull it off on their scale (highly abstracted and "real", respectively) without bringing a powerfull PC to it's knees. MoW by giving small maps with ridiculous detail/interactive bits, ToW by having relatively large maps while sacrificing visuals.
Also, they make mention of hit percentages, so I'm guessing they're opting for random numbers rather than modeling actual ballistics, like Company of Heroes... oh god, don't know if I could deal with magically tracking projectiles again. :hmmm:
Still, intriguing. Wonder how this develops.
CoH ballistics or not, I think I'll be getting this, it'll be nice to have a wargame with realistic distances. Ooooh, just think of the MRLS.
Excuse me...I need to go and take a cold shower...

Hit percentages don't necessarily mean it's unrealistic if they are done properly. Steel Panthers has hit percentages and that works just fine.
Well, I'm glad they're making it a lot more detailed compared to the silliness of R.U.S.E.'s system. Also their reinforcements system working through points and entering from the edge of the map makes so much more sense than R.U.S.E.'s base building.
EDIT: Oh, and Open Beta in September? That's pretty close.

Wargames: EE available to pre-order on Steam, and the trailer looks better than last year's effort. They seem to know naff-all about an ambush though, that NATO convoy being attacked from both sides at once would never happen - unless you wanted to wipe out your troops with good ol' blue on blue. Also ineffective as it was only from the sides and they'd just have driven on :damn:
Not being an RTS fan, or owner, it does look good.

I'm not liking how everything fires on the move and/or at point blank range, but that could just be the trailer. There's some implication of unlockable units in multiplayer, which I don't really like either, but it also appears that there won't be base building like R.U.S.E. which, while not being the silliest concept in that game, was pretty stupid, so that's good.
It's not too expensive and not published by Ubi this time, though, which is nice. Hopefully there will be a demo once it comes out.
