I watched Ironclad last night with doubts at first as why did this go straight to dvd, but man what a surprise if you like movies with limbs being hacked off men sliced in half from Templar's Ironclad is for you. Paul Giamatti who is known for comedy roles plays as the deranged king John of England and does it well. John is upset that the folks of England want him gone so he hires 1000 vikings to help him slaughter the basterds along the way. Ends up with 20 men holding the castle against 1000 viking barbarians.

This movie is brutal, rent it out now! I'm brave enough to give it a 9 out of 10 for the blood and guts. :yep: One of my favorite films of 2011 and it went straight to dvd here. :nope:

Giamatti was hilarious as the bad guy in Shoot 'Em Up, and brilliant in John Adams. I might watch this sometime.

I was going to watch it but imdb absolutely crucifies it:

This could have been a great film. It has the epic historic story, the great cast and a rising star in James Purefoy... but it's all let down by that stupid 'technique' of the shaky-camera.

Yes this film has loads of bloodshed and violence, as it should be, but good luck in actually seeing most of it! I question why anyone would make a film with some horrifically violent scenes and then use shaky-cam for the rest? It's clearly not for censors...so what? It's LAZY film making ladies & gents.

If you get sea-sick you'd best stay clear. As for this piece of uninspired crap.... I hope it drowns.
Not to undermine the thread or be too negative but i have found imdb usually to be on the mark with movies.
Love some of their reviews :O:
Thoughts on that review kiwi?
On the mark?

Yeah there is a scene where he just loses it and cuts the hands & feet of his captive then rants on about why he is The king. Ive always seen him in comedies but I think he seal it for serious roles as well, its hard though looking at that face & trying to take him serious. :)

The movie is not for everyone, of course some are going to think its crap. All I can say is hire it out and see for yourself! :)

IMDB reviews change all the time go back in a few hours and there probably be a review recommending it.

looks interesting so I'll keep an eye out for it.as for reviews I try to keep an open mind about something till I see it ,there's plenty of movie's where I've loved it and the critics have panned it - there's a couple of critics here in Australia that if they pan a movie the wife and I go right out and see it because it's going to be a good movie :D
