Hey guys...
The last few days i've been trying to re-mod my SH3 installation to some of the cool looking GUI mods with zero success.
My system can't handle GWX so of the bat that wipes out quite a few MODS.
Installed Magui final last night and...yes...it loaded and ran...but..yeh....10 minutes in and after obvious consumption problems (screens and mouse pointer were laggy) it CTD'd.
I've been spending the morning going through Maike's ftp listing but many mods don't have readme's and because of my P.O.S computer i'm loathed to download anything larger than 10mb if i don't know what it is.
I've had multiple tabs open and have been trying to match the names of MODS with search results throughout the forum but it's a long sloooowww process. So to cut to the chase.......

Does anyone know the names (plus preferably authors name or link) of some decent MODS i can run on SH3 stock v1.4b. My P.O.S is a 2.5 ghz processor with 1½ gig ram and 128mb ram on my Radeon 9000 graphic card.

Something similar to either Magui or OLCs' GUI is really what i'm looking for..maybe a selection of smaller mods that could achieve the same kinda results............Thanks :03:

Ok that didn't seem to go to well for me. Maybe if i drop my expectations and concentrate on the main mod i would like .. which is an improved, preferably bigger, compass mod..
I use Chomu's integrated orders and i'd be upset to have to give them up but up to now the only 2 compasses that seemed to fit the bill were the 6 dials sim feeling mod and the drop down dials called Grosse Anzeigen fur LSH 3.4.
Both worked for me however only after disabling integrated orders.

Does anyone know of a stand alone compass mod which improves on the stock compass and that doesn't need GWX or any of the other GUI mods to run..I'd be happy with just the compass...Depth and speed are unimportant.

hi Olsin

if i remember corectly the mods dont affect computer power. i think i have asked this some years ago.
there is a SH3 Community Mods page somewhere. you'll need the pass words etc for it, and im sure someone will be along to give you those soon.

your system looks fine though the ram could use a boost

cheers

The GWX supermod was designed to work on the same spec machine as stock/vanilla.

Flag.. I think you may be refering to Waik's FTP listing, if so then i've got that site on speed dial although as i mentioned earlier many of the files there have rather cryptic names plus many of them have no mention of GWX in the file name yet clearly state in their readme's that so and so mod is for GWX..others have no readme's..Maybe what i'm looking for is tucked away quietly there somewhere but my connection is not the fastest or stablest so downloading large files is something i really have to want to do......As a time saver i was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction.

Jimbula What can i say..after a monster download and tricky install i got GWX Gold running although right away i knew i'd have to revert back to stock..The cursor was having a hard time making it across the screen and switching between screens was slow and laggy....nothing like the fluid movements i'd experienced from stock..I had none of the optional GWX mods loaded..
However you've got me thinking..would i be right in assuming that the earlier versions og GWX were less system demanding?
Although again....i'm reasonably happy with the setup i've got now..the only let down is the stock compass.
Here's my MOD list..
DBSM
All weather guns
Lifeboats and Debris V4
TDW Ejecting pilots
TDW Ship plane fire damage
Torpedo damage final V2
Torpedo tube fire final Vstock
New SHIII Enviroment V1
Seawolf maptools
Integrated orders

Incidently......My sincere thanks to all you modders...without you guys i'd have got fed up with SH3 a long time ago...Ubisoft baked the cake but it's you guys that put the icing on :salute:

Have a go with GWX2.0 or 2.1 (you need GWX2.0 installed before you can add GWX2.1).

I can't/won't comment on third party mods....I sincerely hope you understand.
