Take the test, try to name as many countries as you can in 15 minutes:

Or, Europe only test:

Got about thirty for the Europe one, but part of it was because it involved countries that I didn't think counted (San Marino, Vatican City, Monaco, etc).

Amazing!!...147/196 :o

Could have had a few more if my fingers weren't dyslexic, old and slow.

I too had a problem with some of the spellings. One letter wrong and you have to figure out which one it was and that takes time. And why can't I spell 'Tibet'?

47/47 for Europe. Would've finished the whole thing with about five minutes to spare if it didn't take me another three to figure out they included Cyprus in Europe...

I'm one behind Jim :D

Could've got a couple more if it wasn't for odd answers as to what it accepted (I tried several ways of getting the other republic of congo for example and gave up), misspelled a couple too.

Here's a picture of what I got and didn't (don't look if you haven't done it yet - no cheating!) http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p301/myspb2006/map.jpg

In all honesty, I wasn't certain of quite a few of the precise locations and simply typed names of countries as they came into my head.

Actually wasted a bit of time typeing names such as 'United States of America' and 'United Arab Emirates' until I realise 'usa' and 'uae' would suffice! :stare:

90/196. Quite ashamed I must admit, I used to be quite good at this.

Bloody hell, I even forgot to put in North and South Korea... :damn:

Let's see if I can redeem myself on the Europe one...

EDIT: Nope, 40 out of 47...

96 but there were several that I could swear I typed in that didn't register... for instance I typed in Trinidad, and Trinidad & Tobago, and neither counted... but the "correct" answer was apparently "Trinidad and Tobago." Also typed in Bosnia but couldn't remember Herzogovina and I guess you had to put in both in the correct format.

But I typed in "Burma" and it turned itself into "Myanmar" and got counted. Go figure.

I did the worst on the African countries and a lot of the little island nations. Wasn't even really looking for them, except for the Caribbean ones that popped into my head quickly.

Lol, until just recently my most current world atlas still had the USSR in it.

I think we need to call a moratorium on renaming places, consolidating nations, splitting up nations, and redrawing borders. I'm old and my brain can't handle any more changes. I'm still trying to wrap my head around why I can't find Czechoslovakia on the map any more.

The new one to beat is 160 :know:

I learned Oceania and the Caribbean a couple years back while researching vacation spots. Europe I know because as a godless liberal socialist Marxist communist, I am expected to know that. Asia I'm pretty good at because there's not really a lot of countries. South and Central American countries are easy because living in Texas, I know or have met someone from pretty much just about all of them. Africa's a moving target, so I admit I know very few countries there.

They need streamlining LOL.

42 out of 47 in Europe. They included Turkey and Cyprus. Missed those. And it took some time to find the English names for Czech Republic and Liechtenstein.
I came up with Monaco, Andorra and San Marino and forgot about Vatican City :damn: And Kosovo and Montenegro I didn't think of.

I dont think who ever made that page can spell it will not take Iraq:06:
nor Pakistan:06: it takes many nations even if you do not capitalize the first letter but it will not take other nations when spelled correctly?
That or there is some glitch on the page.

Are you sure?

It accepted both countries when I tried...Greenland was one country it wouldn't recognise IIRC.

Greenland is the answer, or better said, Denmark :har:

It is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark.

Raptor1
07-11-11, 08:17 AM
True, but if you count Greenland, which is in North America, then you have to count Russia as well. And Russia is bigger than Denmark even if you do count Greenland...

EDIT: Also, Greenland is largely separate from Denmark itself, and not part of the EU, so it probably doesn't count in any case...

91/196 - Quite frankly I'm disappointed with myself, I just went blank and forgot over half of Africa, South America and the newer european states :nope:, and as for the Pacific Islands like Vanatu...

I'll leave it a couple of days then try just the Europe one!
