I am perplexed

Hi all, I decided to start playing SH5 again (on a Windows 7 x64 machine) for the first time in months. I do remember previously downloading one of Dark Wraiths epic mods for it (which gives the old dials) , and when I got into the game again a day or so ago, I was pleased to see them still there. I also saw that there was a teleport facility, which gets round that tiresome ladder (OK going up but I haven't yet mastered getting back down in one go) - I don't know where that came from, unless it is an update from Ubisoft. I started my new profile and completed the tutorial, chose my mission and made my way down the Kiel Canal (sigh) and up to my patrol area before I did a final save and came out for the day. Next time I logged on I found that I had lost all the saves on my new profile and only 2010 saves were listed, which was annoying. Tonight I went back in to the game and started again with the tutorial, which I finished and am off to tackle the Kiel canal - but now there are no old dials and the teleport option has disappeared too. I came out, downloaded JGSME, which I did not seem to have in the SH5 folder, downloaded NewUI from Dark Wraith, installed and activated that, but when I went back into the game just now, nothing has changed. Puzzled and gently peeved....oh, and I deleted all the old profile saves. Hoping someone can help :)

:hmmm: I switch off the online save to stop some of the missing save game issues.

As for your dials, you should check out some of Stoianm's vids on how too install and adjust TDWs mods.

That teleport comes with The DarkWraith's MultiUI mod.

I would uninstall SH5, and the SH5 folder found in My Documents then reinstall a fresh copy. Start over.

Yes I wil start over as you advise Kiwi - good idea, then I shall d/l DarkWraith's mods again and the other one mentioned by Trevally to do with the dials and see how I get on from there :)

Trevally - a mod to murder the Kiel? wow, gotta have that! Where do I turn off online savs though??

From the game launcher, click settings then untick save online.

the synchronise savs box you mean I guess - I looked before I uninstalled. Ok will untick that.

Am re-installing game at present, but it is taking a loooong time. Nothing at all seems to happen for minutes on end - then a brief spurt of lights and spin, then back to seeming inactivity. In Terrain at present, progress bar about halfway. Think I will go and do something boring like making the bed, or a cuppa. Gosh, what will I do if it doesn't install!!? Gulp.
Ahh, I hear a new spin.. lasted all of three seconds and the bar has barely moved...patience... :-?

um, it eventually got almost to the end of the bar, then I got a blue screen ( IRQ less than equal) and the computer shut down. Have cleaned the disk, got rid of the created folder and have asked it to reinstall again, but again, no activity. Not 'appy :(

IRQ errors, sounds like you have a computer hardware problem, not software. It shouldn't take long at all to install SH5 about 7min max.
If you post what the error states here someone might be able to help.

I cancelled the install and then put the disk into my 'works' computer ( win 7 x32) and it installed without any problems on that.Then I came back to the gaming machine ( both machines run on a KVM switch) and took everything off the startup menu - meaning Acronis, ESET and a network activity monitor - and found that the disk then installed just fine until I got to Terrains. Then it went to sleep; no disk or cpu activity. Eventually I clicked on 'cancel' and waited for the query message to come up, and then clicked on No, and that woke the drive up again and the install proceeded normally to the end, so here I am...hooray!! Now where did I put those mods....?

Can't find TDW MultUI in Downloads and search did not find, want it for the teleport.
went to the video(s) from your link Trevally, for how to install but had to come out as it seemed not to be displaying properly - black flashes on screen. Mght be Firefox 5, will try with IE later

I have the harbour pilot and Kiel Canal mod and activated it and the DW NU UI is already activated both in MOD folder in the Game folder - zat right?

Is that all I need to do? I think that was all I ever needed to do with SH3 - but this is SH5!

Don't want to go back into the game until I know I have the mods set right.

Sounds like you are ready to go.
You already have the UI mod from TDW

note: when you add a mod to your MODS folder - open it and the first file you will see is a "data" folder.

To change your dials for SH3 style goto:-
C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Scripts\Menu

Then open "TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py" with notepad.
Near the top you will see this:-

thank you :) While you were posting I tried again for the Youtube vids, got there no problems this time and have downloaded them both.
