All the local channels went with live coverage around 7:30 PM.

I pulled the headphones out of the laptop and plugged them into my phone. Listened to the police scanner until it ended around midnight.

Not my usual gramophone tracks, but WAY more current.

Gunman kills 7, then himself... (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43677328/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/?gt1=43001)

It was very cool listening to the whispered transmissions from the officer in the back bedroom.

Two things not mentioned in any news report I've seen:

1. The first hostage released told police there were two more people hiding in the basement, not just the two hostages upstairs. I heard nothing about them after 10:00 or so.

2. The male hostage was shot early on. The officer escorting them out after it was over took them to an ambulance stating that the male had a gunshot wound.

Strange and tragic night.

If you want to kill yourself, fine do it. I'm totally against suicide 100%, but to kill innocent people, or to take someone out regardless is even more selfish, and totally unneeded in this situation.

The person with the gun must have known how it'd come down before it even started. Why waste people's time, and even someone's life for your selfishness?

It doesn't make sense :nope:

I don't think it was suicide and that he wanted to bring people with him.

The article says he was an ex-con hunting down relatives and such. In this case it appears he either didn't want to go back to prison, or realised how much of a twit he was afterwards and then pulled the trigger on himself...

Sad in anycase :nope:

It sounds to me like he blamed others for his problems and decided to take them down or he was just a sociopath.People that go on shooting sprees are clearly sociopaths in most cases who care nothing about human life where as a person that only kills them self was either mentally ill or felt that death was the only option. It seems like a modern problem thanks to media but I am sure even in cave man days some person that was sociopathic just bashed others in his tribes heads in or used a spear or what ever and no one would ever know that it happened.

At least he didn't have an army with him nor control state security institution. If not it would be tedious and tragic for too many people.

They are tolerable from third person perspective, grieving for second and fatal for first.

Can you deliver it?

Someday I'll deliver it for the price of my freedom and well being. I already had the chance which I didn't use.

I noticed that he shot someone before and little was done about it.
Nothing new, I guess. :nope:

In May 2000, he was accused of firing a gun at people in a car, then firing four more shots when they attempted to read the license plate of the vehicle he was driving. He was sentenced that year to three to 10 years in prison for assault and paroled three years later.

Around here it IS a shocker.

Finding anyplace in western Michigan where one could shoot another person and not get any return fire is rather unusual. He managed to find three such places.

Rather large percentage of concealed carry permits on this side of the state.
