I assume that the our P-3s tracked her by the trail of Anechoic Tiles she left behind?

I guess this is evidence of the super glue shortage in Iran (having sent most of it to Iraq apparently... (http://www.therightperspective.org/2009/04/24/gay-iraqis-tortured-with-anal-glue/))

Derp,

Notice the missing anechoic tiles?

Go read the secondary sources. :o Two stories in one!

:) Second story is a little more interesting, well.. I don't know how to phrase this without sounding sick, but stirs up more interest and emotions compared to the Iranians showing how badly maintained their subs are

To bad the bottom didn't fall off of it at 1000ft depth. :har:

The second story doesn't as much anger me as it does give me a "WHAT THE F**K" moment...

I dont think super-glue could fix that :hmmm:

But, in good 'ole Canadian spirit you could prob'ly patch her up with some hockey tape :haha:

I'm glad I read this thread before looking at the link as I had entirely different ideas that were instantly shattered.

In a free Iraq there will be none of that torture and killing:yeah:
But seriously TLAM could you have not linked to any half decent news source instead of a mouthpiece for white supremacist terrorists who calll themselves "christian" and want to cleanse the blacks and Jews for the blood of Jesus:doh:

Aside from the age of the article issue, what else does the picture tell us?

Looks like the boat's riding a good six to ten inches higher than it apparently sat before heading out, if the discoloration of the green paint at the w/l is any indicator. I would hazard a guess that dropping tiles wouldn't account for all that weight loss; and if that displacement change is due to fuel consumption, why did they not trim the boat? If they're not filling fuel tanks with seawater to compensate for the fuel usage, why? Looks to me like it's high at the bow, at least.

There's a reason why this boat is riding high in this picture. I'm just curious as to why.

It is a bit out of trim, but not sitting high. The grassweeds line usually starts an inch or so below the waterline of a largely stationary boat. This one angles down and disappears below the waterline about 1/3 the length of the boat.

Removing the torpedos without re-trimming the boat could do this, but then, so could a great many repair evolutions. Hard to say what the cause may be.

Good point; my mistake is in assuming the picture was taken of the boat immediately after it tied up, and that's not a good assumption to make.

The Kilo class tends to ride high by the bow when the torpedoes are unloaded. Might be a quirk of the class, but I think it's because the torpedoes are loaded though the upper bow tubes so they trim her high by the bow.

I'm sure a good amount of gaffer tape will fix that:haha:

It sounds to me like some people on this forum know more about enemy submarines than their own captain and crew haha

Yes, I'm referring to Iran as "enemy".
