Hey gang, I recently started a distance learning course for computer games designer. I've just got finished with the 1st release of the opening tutorial game they have you develop using game-maker and I've...deviated a bit from what they suggested.
What I would love is if some of you could spend a few minutes trying it out. It's still a work in progress and by no means finished and as it's just an opener to the main part of the course I don't intend on spending an awful lot of time refining it. But I have tried to make it fun... the original was boring as hell!

So anyway here is the linky - http://www.yoyogames.com/games/180805-catch-the-clowns-wip
or if you don't want to download from the site I have a link to the current version stored in my dropbox in my sig.

Thanks! :salute:

I get the message 'Sorry Cannot find that game' from that yoyo page.

I keep getting a score of 404 even before I can play it. :hmmm:

doh! Sorry guys, I took that one down as I had updated it. Here is a link to the game in my dropbox - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26806788/Catch%20the%20Clowns%20v2.0.exe

There is a tiny little bug... your score doesnt reset after each restart.
It's not a super awesome game, but I have tried to improve on the original to make it slightly more fun.

Thanks! :yeah:

I like the idea to spice up an odd game.
However I think the query of the mouse movement and clicking is much too imprecise - I have my cursor movement tuned very quick and a high dpi mouse, so I usually don't have these probs to hit anything on the screen ;).

But good luck with your course, I hope you stick to it! Distance learning is all about self-motivation...

I totally agree with the mouse clicking, it's something that everyone that tried it commented on. The only thinkg I could possibly do to fix it is to use a larger transparent background on the clowns I think.

Thanks for your encouragement on the course, I'm looking forwar to getting started on the more in depth stuff, but Game Maker is getting me by at the moment
