I purchased SH5 from Amazon for $8.00 w/shipping. Loaded it and don't like it. Maybe will try it again after the mods get it more user friendly.
Removed it and reloaded SH4 w/TM etc.

Happy again,

Otto:)

It is a very enjoyable game now with mods. You must not have tried it with any mods. Vanilla SH5 is total crap.

At least he's tried it and not just shunned it 'because'!

But yes, stick some mods in and it will instantly be a better game. But he should already know this!

I also felt like that but after adding most of Stoianm mod list, it works very nicely indeed. Try it:up:

There are so many mods that I didn't know which ones to use. A list of mods that make this more fun to use would make a new start. As I stated in my post I don't have any $ invested. However, as SH4 has been played for a long time and except for the FOTRS and TM hasn't changed since it came out. and each new game was better that the last , I naturally thought that SH5 was the way to go. I will try it again if I get a mod list from those of you who have played SH5 for some time.

Thanks for all your thoughts and help,

Otto

stoianm's list of mods is top notch. he personally took time to help me install mods, and SH5 now is very enjoyable.

Most mods are user friendly if you know how to use the generic mod enabler which I presume you do if you play SH4, then your half way there!

Sad to say but the big problem with this game development and distribution is.... ah never mind, to little to late.

Sad to say but the big problem with this game development and distribution is.... ah never mind, to little to late. another problem is that this game was a tech demo in my opinion it was used to test and show off the developers graphics capabilities but no Silent Hunter game ever released was perfect from the start what the developers do is essentially shove an unfinished SH game and hand it to the modders thats what its been like since SH3 and of course the developers patch it and allow their games to modded easily

One more ? I see that some mods require the 1.2 patch. I DLd the patch on Ubis site but it is a 1.1 patch. Is this the right patch. If not , where can i find the 1.2 patch?

Thanks again,

Otto

I'm thinking about trying SH5 once ive finished/got bored with SH4, though not sure if my comp will be able to handle it!. Not heard anything good about SH5 when i googled it, though im sure with the right mods it can be good.

yeah it's missing a lot of what made sh3 enjoyable. sh4 never quite captured it as well. the new campaign system is bad.

I also have bought the SH5, but I can't really play it. Have tried, but got lots and lots of lag and no wonder why. My Graphic card is not strong enough, only 64 Mb.

And I have been told, that my computer can't be upgradet(bigger graphics card) Packard Bell(bought in summer 2010)

So until I have the money, to buy a new computer, the game have been placed in a box and put away.

So if the game sucks or the vanilla does, but with adds, it's a great game
that's something I have to find out later.
