I decided to dust this off and see how the other half lived or...died. Mainly me. :-?

The 2 questions are....

1. On the contact selector. Is it still backwards as was the case when released ?

2. Is the recognition manual on Draft still metric even tho I ticked Authentic. While I doubt there's a problem here.

Both were a big issue back when I bought it then Shelved it.

Bought SH4 1.5 UBM Gold on a whim when it became available at GameStop store but, never opened it till yesterday.

Mods installed TMO 2 with 2.1 update.

Starting small to get the feel of it. Have all boxes ticked except Manual Targeting again, until I get the feel of it.

V1.5 TMO 2.0 and the 2.1 patch pretty much fix all the fixable problems.
The recognition manual should be in feet for a Fleetboat.
The contact selector switch works right, TMO defaults to contact.

With TMO you'll die a quite a few times till you get the hang of it and then you'll still die just not as often. :D The escorts are deadly if you're not careful.

Thx Magic :salute:

I did an attack on a convoy in "42" in S. China Sea that was lightly escorted.

Useing rec manual set torp depth to draft +3 , mag influence 700yrds to target at 90 degrees. Perfect shot with 2 torps. No Luck. Tried again setting contact. 2 hits. One Modern Tanker history.

That's why I asked if Contact\Contact Influence was still messed up and a hardcode issue. And everyone in the know has lived with it. lol.

OK I miss understood. :damn: TMO has all the real torpedo problems of the early war modeled so in 42 things just don't work all that good. We fought for one and a half years with faulty torpedoes.

The Influence setting is so bad, just like real life, I never even try it.
Contact isn't much better, lots of duds if you use high speed and shoot too close to a 90° track.

I've gotten to the point I just turn off duds. After three years I've had all the thrill of the real life problems so I don't need them anymore.

Things get better in 43.:yeah:

Congrats on the sinking.
