Your welcome...it was 'pay per view' here in the UK.

Seriously? Here it was broadcast for free... And there's usually no boxing on tv here EVER. Well accept for K1 of course, but not the regular boxing. Anyway, I'm no boxing expert by any means, but I found this really fun to watch. As a complete newbie and outsider, it was a really exciting match. As I understood it, Hayes normally fights in a different (lighter) weight class? Well I give him credits then for taking on this guy. Must have been at least 20 centimeters taller. Now how in the hell do you get a punch in then?
What amazed me btw were Hayes' reflexes; the way he dodged a lot of punches without any cover, just by moving his head. I was impressed. But Klitschko won fair and square imo.
too much dancing in the ring without any significant punches. Too bad, bcoz I really wanted to see Klitschko's face smashed. The way he fights is everything but interesting. On the other hand Haye appeared to be all talk and when I read a minute ago the reasons he gave for losing the fight (toe injury suffered 3 weeks before the fight) I lol'd hard. Unfortunately another boring fight.

When you look at the tale of the tape, Klitschko outscored Hayes in every stat.
And in relation to Hayes shooting his mouth off, well, that's called "show".
Good, experienced boxers won't be put off by garbage talk, they all do it, some more, some less.
It comes with the sport.

I saw the fight in full on German (free) TV. It was probably the best heavyweight fight of the last years.
Klitschko did not hit with his killer jab although he unpacked his right ram more often and earlier than he usually does, and Haye defended impressively by actinbg very agile and swinging his head and chest left and right and back like a cobra, even in the last round. Both boxers were showing top fitness. But in return Haye was unable to deliver any threats, he tried, but indeed only made hay with his even pre-announced swingers. He was agile and fast, but that was not enough. In the first third, they all in all were even, but in the last third Klitschko more and more often scored clear hits, nevertheless had to be on his guard even in the last round. Just on two or three occasions when he had to move backwards to avoid a sudden assault by Haye one thought that maybe Haye could land a lucky hit. In most of the fight Haye lacked the means to get around Klitschko's defence. However, he was able to almost neutralise Klitschko'S advantage in arm's length. Can't remember a fight when that Klitschko fired short of his opponents face so often.
Haye evaded Klitschko pushing him down by letting himself fall to the ground very, very often. That may be clever, but that his corner complained to the referee and the ref in the next round punished Klitschko with one point, was a bias in decision therefore. The ref tried to repair that later, when Haye once again fell to the ground over nothing - and got counted at. Haye clearly eyed assistance from the ref - it caught my attention how very often he looked at the ref.
The win for Kitschko is okay, all in all he was better, and showed Haye how incredibly difficult it is to get inside Klitschko's jab (and that jab alone is a threat so menacing that not even a fast boxer like Haye can afford to play around with it). The decision of the three scoring referees underlines that, it was much clearer a decision than I expected.
I also like that Haye lost. He behaved like an azz and overstepped that thin red line several times before the fight. Such bigmouths I laugh at when they finally lose. However, I also must say he fought very well. But he needs to work on his behavior. That he let the audience and the TV broadcasters wait for over 20 minutes, once again illustrated his megalomania. The president of the event said it will have financial consequences for him, for he was being told for the better before the fight not to play any games like that.
Solid win-by-points for Klitschko - nothing to criticise in his performance.
German TV announced 16.3million people having watched the fight live on TV. That is a new record here.

Long before the fight Haye announced he would be retiring in October...suprise suprise, after the fight he announced that he is 'reconsidering' his future.
Sounds like someone thinking off one more financial payday to me!!
Sounds like someone thinking off one more financial payday to me!!
..but who is not? When you can get loads of money for being K.O'ed in the first round boxing is Eldorado even for those who are better entertainers than boxers.
Ok, kids who obviously haven't seen the fight invaded this thread so gotta retreat.
And yeah, best fight evah...

It is patently obvious what your opinion of US and UK boxers is....and you are entitled to said opinion even if it does appear a little vitriolic to some (myself included).
Please remember this is simply an exchange of views and opinions on last nights fight.
You may also care to look over the list of previous world champions at all weights/levels....I think you'll find numerous US and UK title holders.

Ezio, you are not really making yourself many friends in here - not because of what you say, but how you say it. Cool down your tongue a bit - before the mods come to your assistance. :03:
And last night was a boxing/sports event - no political event. Let's leave Libya and oil out of this. The two do not match inside one and the same thread.

If you do not need friends in here, there is no sensible reason why you have come here, so please have the kindness to stay away then. We can do well without you.
