I went hunting for the Yamato on April 7, 1945. I was in the correct location, per the following article. http://www.battleshipyamato.info/wreck.html. It wasn't there!! Crew very frustrated. Break out the ice cream to shut them up. Darn that Lurker! Maybe he missed it?

I decided to wait a bit. I hauled my lounge chair to the deck, and was trolling for marlin on April 8th when I spotted a TF heading at 243 degrees. There she was, in the middle of it, cruising at 24.25 kts., ringed by escorts and cruisers. Lurker did it again!

For those of you too lazy to read the article, set up at 30 degrees, 22 min. N, 128 degrees, 04 min. E.

Hey, cool site. I was particularly interested in that 2005 film, but the link mentioned there does not exist anymore. Is it on youtube somewhere? I looked for it but did not find anything.

Many times...

Have you sunk the Shinano yet, another fun RSRD battle since it only spawns once in the war?

My last career, I ran into the "Y" at least a half dozen times after sinking her on the 8th of April. The first time, I didn't get credit for sinking her (I think) because she was already under attack by Navy divebombers. I then ran into her several times after that in the same general area. On these later encounters, she was accompanied by a cruiser and two DDs. I sank her two more times and then repeatedly ran into the same TF, but by then, I got tired of it. I would just bypassed the TF and continue hunting elsewhere.

I met the Yamato sorry I can't remeber the exact time, but sometime in 1943 I think. It was around the Marianas escorted by just 2 destroyers. I managed to engage and sink it, my first ever battleship I sunk after 2 years of playing!

4/9/45 0306 hrs. 130'5.5" N. 31'35"E sighted on course 255 degrees, but then it changed course to 222 degrees. Speed: slow I think. 6 shots missed.:wah:

Location: off the southern tip of japan, heading east. My boat was out of range and torpedoes fell short. When the TF swings NE its speed increases to 29 kts. (I checked my calculations twice.), and you can forget trying to hit it.

Dates, the historical ones ..:D

Honestly I would have to look it up, but you can catch it going through the Bungo headed north. When I sunk it I found it already going in and chased, but the escorts came astern. I sunk the two that came and gave chase, course you have to dive going through that small strait so shore guns don't get you. I think it heads to Kure, cuz I chased it almost that far before I sunk it and took a beating from the last DD.

Ending, get ahead of it before the strait or along the historic route. Takes about 6 torps.

I've never even seen the Shinano. I suppose I'll have to do my research and see if I can bag her in this career.:hmmm:
