I know this has probably been mentioned before but I havent been around in years. How do I limit the amount of Radio messages that I receive in game, it keep taking me to 1x and it is getting to be a real pain.

Thanks.

You can use SH3 to turn the TC of radio messages to whatever you want :)

Tried that but they are still cutting my tc down to 1x.

WB's Mission Orders Lite

This mod drastically reduces the number of radio messages you receive during the campaign to a total of just 229 which are all relevant to missions scripted into GWX or important to your decision making process (e.g. location of supply ships). WBNN is designed for GWX but will work with any mod.

Yeah I found this very annoying as well until I found WBs mod a few weeks ago.

Unless you're an idiot like me who likes to read all the messages. Of course at 128x they are actually few and far between. :D

No one seems to like constant interruptions anymore...

Last time I sailed with a 'full load' it took me forever to get anywhere. So much time committed to reading messages there's precious little left to do much else. :nope:

I don't really mind the messages that much. Only thing I find annoying is that when I load a saved game the last 4 or 5 messages start coming in, so my 128 tc get's interrupted after each 2 seconds.

Will try the lite mod :)

What's the difference between this mod and WB's?

Edit: Nevermind, I see it's the same one ;)

I did my own version by deleting the garbage and kept the orders and added few.

You can also remove the radio man from his post but once radar is up for grabs you got a bit of wondering to do. :hmmm:

h.sie's or stieblers hardcoded edits will change the fact that no matter what radio messages reduce your speed to 1.

EDIT: Re-read that...looks counter intuitive to what I was trying to say -

They are the only way to get the game to NOT reduce TC x1 when receiving a radio message.

You can cruise along at 8k TC and check your 50 messages later.

I, however think I am going to the lite mod myself or maybe a self - modified version. Currently playing as U-51, I hate to see messages from U-51 to U-51 :D

I recently discovered these mods, "good sauce!"

You will still see a lot of messages at certain times, particularly if you are out when hostilities start - obviously there is a lot of info coming out from BdU during that time period.

But generally speaking... you will probably get to the point where you long for a radio message just to break up the monotony. :O:

Precisely...the fact is Bdu often sent radio messages and kept a strict control on their U-boats movements.

Which is why I send in a position/weather report every day at the same time. Sick bugga, ain't I?

Glad you're happy with it...

It sure helps cut down on all the unnecessary chatter and leaves you more time for the important work - like sinking those big fat merchants! :arrgh!:

In the game I just send a status report. On paper, and recorded into my logs, I record the 4-digit grid location (obtained by reducing the map to match the little grid map in the pull-down chart in GWX Nav Map view), my current course and speed, and then I take the Wind Speed from the WO and use a six-sided die to randomize it a little, then multiply it by the seasonal weather difference in SH3 Commander, and then write it all down.

With Commander's writable log function it appears in my SH3 logs.

I like most of the radio messages in SH3, but when I get one from a U-boat that goes "Aircraft, bombed, sink-" I think "oh boy, here we go..." And this only gets more and more common as the war continues. Does BdU really think that transmission will end with anything besides "ing"? Maybe "Aircraft, bombed, sink in the galley is really starting to smell bad. Recommend other Kaleuns avoid the preparing of 'Special Cocktails' from now on"...
