Sorry if this has been covered before but I couldn't see anything related....
I've just recently installed GWX and everything seems to be working really well apart from, I've been sailing up and down the English channel for 5 days and not seen a single ship! In fact I've seen nothing, no aircraft, no ships, no trawlers.....
Can someone advise me what's happening please?
Thanks.... Jon T.
Hey Jon
If you just installed GWX, here's one tip;
Stay away from the channel. When you do meet a ship, big chance it's gonna be looking for you, and dropping 130 kilos of good news on top of you, in the form of depth charges. Without the ability to go much deeper then periscope depth.......
If you're looking for lots of ships, look at the convoy map

Usually, what I do (Departing from Lorient), I go up north, join the convoy route that passes between Brest and Bristol, and go west, and hang around the area where the 2 convoys from the south cross the one going to Halifax. Lots, and lots of ships. I usually run out of torpedo's within 7-10 days of my patrol start

There are two mods that come with GWX that could cause this problem.
They are
GWX - Indian Ocean Campaign Files Only
GWX - Black Sea Campaign Files Only
You didn't activate either of these by any chance?
Doing so will remove all the traffic from everywhere in the world except either the Indian Ocean or the Black Sea. They are designed to cut down on loading times if you are operating in those theatres only.
EDIT: ps. welcome aboard :DL

Just for the sake of it,
If indeed that you have not seen a single ship in the English Channel, try going to one of thier ports, just for the curiosity...:D
I know this won't help solve anything, but if indeed that there are no ship, in theory, there should be no ships in port...
Hope you solve this problem though
Good luck & good hunting:salute:

What I always found rather strange was going into British ports before the commencement of hostilities and not receiving so much as a second look nevermind any shooting.
GWX campaign mod might be the reason, but it's 100% normal to see no one for 2 weeks from 1940 onward. The ocean is vast and most ships go together in convoys. It's part of realism, and it makes you even more exciting when a gigantic convoy is sighted. Happy hunting :salute:

This was indeed the problem!
I had 'Black Sea' installed but have now removed it, thanks very much for the help guys. I was beginning to think I'd broken it, I've had this game a long time but never got around to putting GWX in to it before so I suppose it's a case of learning from the start again.
