After coming on a thread where someone, I don't recall who, asked "stoianm" not to respond to their question, I was a struck and decided to look up "stoianm" posts.

Well my eyes were opened. I spend most of my time not signed-in on the Dangerous Waters forum. So after looking at his tutorials, and reading the posts in the SH-5 forum, seeing the magnificent modding which had been done by thedarkwraith, and others, I ordered the game from amazon thru' Subsim.

Man, I've been missing a lot. The only thing that bothers me , is the connection thing, maybe do it like ROF?

As i said, I'm late to this game, and due to the great work of all the modders, there seems to be hours and hours of pure fun ahead.

What does all this mean?"I recently changed my mind".

Nice.

For those of us travellers who spend a lot of time in locales without good internet availability (and those who live there), we're still fubar until UBI patches out the connection requirement for good. For now, I salute UBI (with one finger that is) and stick to SH3 and Steam games (Shogun TW and Empire TW) that can be played in offline mode.

Silent Hunter is one of my very favorite series. The time I have spent playing I and now IV totals hundreds upon hundreds of hours.

But I will NEVER buy a game that I need permission to play. I am sick of companies screwing with honest users in vain attempts to stop pirates. Truthfully I was hopeing more people felt like that. But it is obvious most don't.

Next you will need to have UBI come to your house and start the game for you. Won't that be nice?

For me, who bought SH4 + Add-on (even though I don't care about the PTO)
to support UBI RO, SH5 is big no.

For the simple reason, that I cannot afford to be On-line all the time.

SH3 runs fine on my Notebook, wherever I go!

Once they remove it, via patch or such..i will gladly buy it to Support UBI RO.

I have not bought the game, since I am a strict offline player. Maybe in future - or SH6 ?? Who knows ...

By the way - I still find SH3 the most ripe game from a challenge standpoint - like so many others here. Nice graphics is not everything, even if it really adds to atmosphere. Too bad, Ubi made this stupid decision ....
