Hi Mates,
I was just wondering if the radio messages have any meaning in game play?
If not, could they be modded to mean additional tasks while on patrol ie; rescue, shadow a convoy, help a ship or sub?
Wish that somebody could mod the radio messages. Currently, this feature does not work in the campaign, its almost impossible to send out a message for the player on a fixed date. :nope:

The only way i can see it working is to script it
I really dont know .

That's incorrect. In my UIs mod you have the ability to define radio messages to be sent out on exact date and time wanted.

 I am just looking at this now as an option.

And those messages will pop up on the screen? And we need this to be a stand alone solution, so even those who dont use you mod will get it. I know that the time is defined with hours in the source, but cant figure out when the count start.

I've been PMing with Trevally about this.

Your radio messages as stand alone mod were just great TDW:yep:

That does remind me: just who wrote all those messages that go out in your UI mod?
I really like them, as they add to the illusion of a living world. It's good to read messages about the various events in WW2. Quite immersive.

They are from a mod in SH3. I used Python to convert them into the format I needed then added them to my UIs mod.

Aah, I see. Well, I love them.
Do they actually reflect what is happening in the game, or is it more of a flavour thing?
For example, I just received messages from U-34 in the process of engaging a convoy. Is this actually happening? Are the SSS signals also accurate (would I find a ship at indicated coordinates)?
Thank you.

You dont wanna know that, it will spoil the fun. But the historical events are .. accurate. Like the messages from Bismarck, D-Day etc. Except there is a delay, I received news about D-Day 2 weeks earlier.. but better early than newer.
The main problem is that the campaign use a weird system to calculate the time when the messages are sent. Why the devs had to mess with the radio messages.. its a mystery. If its not broken, dont fix it.

The messages are more of an immersive one.
The sub sighted/periscope sighted/ship sinking are accurate and if you were to go to those coordinates you would find a contact there. Also any contact reports given to your sub by Bdu are accurate.

Oh, excellent. Thanks for clearing things up.
