Others are STILL playing SH3?
I thought I was rare.
Though.... I played Aces of the Deep for like 100 years too.
Cool! Been a while...

You think that's something, check out the mods workshop.
People are still modding the game, on a daily basis, coming up with new stuff all the time. A lot of the stuff nobody ever thought could be fixed or changed or added is, as we type, getting fixed and changed and added. :yep:
I never stopped playing it. Once I find a game I really like, why quit?:shucks:

One of my all-time favorites...
Every once in a while I try out a new shiny ride, but (once the glitz fades) I keep coming back to old reliable. :sunny:
Though, time is limited, I´m still lurking and sinking Tommies :D

The good old Aces of the Deep. That game has wolfpack action... oh well, high time to get back to stopping allied sea traffic :arrgh!: BTW great name vodkaphile :DL :()1:
I recently bought a new computer, decided to install SH3 and it kind of lighted the spark. And now, after few years pause, I'm insensitively playing the campaign again.

Yep - it does kind of put the hook in you doesn't it :yep:

Ditto.
And the mod progress has been amazing.
I'm astonished by H.Sie and Stiebler's Realism fixes - have just spent the last few days playing with them. Takes the game to a whole new level.
And I've just found a mod that randomises whether merchants have searchlights equipped or not.
Going to make night surface attacks very interesting, introducing an element of the unknown :DL

Some things are timeless. SH-III is one of them.
When someone comes out with something better, I might move on.
But, like a favorite book or movie, I'll keep it on the shelf.

AOD is one I never played and only saw it working once at Neals house as a result of me stating the above.

AOD was great, perhaps the best ever IMO. If only it had been designed in the era of modern graphics. Ah well, we can always dream.

Oh don't get me wrong, Neal went through the controls and actions of the game to give me a fair idea but your right, the graphics were obviously the big let down.

I have AOD as well as SH1 on my computer, and once in a great while I take one of them out for a spin. AOD seems so very primitive today, but on my computer it loads in about 5 seconds. :sunny:

But man was it detailed as far as what it had in it and what you could do.
Back in the day the graphics were actually great. First Subsim I can remember with real waves.
Ah the days sims came with huge manuals....
