I'm running into problems with saving my game mid-patrol. I'm using a IXC/40 in 1943 with the following mods enabled
GWX - 16km atmosphere
GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
GWX - Merged Campaign
GWX - No Medals on Crew
GWX - Main Movie - 'Das Boot'
GWX - Open Hatch Mod
MaGui F
MaGui - Intro Screen
MaGui - blue recmanual
Supplement to V15E3
Bad Weather Fix V1.1 (FORTE)
TheDarkWraith_DC_Water_Disturbance_V4_0_SH3
MaGui - Stopwatch with speed lines

I saved the game in four different places on my way to South America
PS1: as soon as I reached deep water out of Lorient
PS2: DI77
PS3: EH64
PS4: FC57

PS1 works while all of the others result in a crash.

EDIT: I'm running GWX and SH3Cmdr as well. I sank a ship somewhere between PS2 and PS3 but I waited a few days between the sinking and PS3. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

EDIT2: I've done a complete reinstall by the way. Uninstalled, deleted game folder, deleted sh3 documents folder, SH3Cmdr, etc. I thought maybe I had messed with the various cfgs too much or something but I'm still having problems.

Everything works as it should be otherwise, I had a thought about whether there could be a conflict among your mods :hmmm:

I'm not sure but I thought there were some problems with this one:
TheDarkWraith_DC_Water_Disturbance_V4_0_SH3

I thought I read somewhere people were having problems with random corrupted savegames from this mod. But as I said; I'm not entirely sure if it was this one. Perhaps an idea to PM Darkwraith and ask him about it?

I thought that might be it too, but running a fresh campaign without it seems to have no effect.

Do you need the Bad Weather Fix if you're already using h.sie's Supplement to V15E3? I thought that already had a "fixed" file in that took care of the weather bug. Not saying it's a problem, cuz I honestly don't know. If it's not then I don't see anything wrong with the rest of your mods, aside from the known issues with the Depth Charge Disturbance mod as noted above.

But if you're having the same issues with that mod totally taken out of the mix, then I'd suggest you disable everything and re-enable one by one until the problem recurs and if it does you'll know which mod to look at as the source of the problem.

Is not the saved game crash a problem regardless, even with stock vanilla? No doubt some mods will make it worse but am I not right in saying it happens from time to time anyway?

I used to have so much save game crashes that I basically stopped saving games anywhere else but port. But then I noticed (thanks to some thread here in the forum) that all my folders connected to Silent hunter were marked read-only! (crazy f...ing Windows..., well that's irrelevant here, sorry) Anyways, I took off the read-only mark from my SH3 folder and my SH3 save game folder in My Documents and have been saving since with success. No crashes yet - but I have only used something like 7 - 8 inpatrol saves so far.

So that's something you can try, but be sure to sort out the mods too. It could well be a mod problem. Too little memory or too much conflicts, who knows.

True, but if there is a mod problem I'd want to know about it before shrugging it off as a random bad save. And it sounds like he's getting corrupted saves even when he starts fresh with a new patrol/career.

Quite correct...

Several people reported getting corrupted saves on a regular basis with this mod enabled.

Seems the best place to start... :sunny:

Removed the DC water disturbance mod and completely removed the careers folder in my documents. Seems to be working now.
