Dust 514

I have to say I followed the link off Facebook to the PlayStation blog thinking this would just be the announcement of another mediocre, generic FPS. But by God does it look like I was wrong.

Dust 514, from CCP, the creators of EVE, is a PS3 exclusive (yep, they still make those) MMOFPS actually set in the EVE universe alongside EVE players. Every battle that you play will impact the rest of the game, and indeed universe for every other player. Sounds brilliant.

CCP's much vaunted console accompaniment to EVE, DUST 514, has now been officially confirmed as a PS3 exclusive. Apparently it's because the PS3 is much better designed for online worlds and micro-payments. I'm a touch confused about what DUST 514 is all about, especially how it interacts with PC players of a separate game. (Hence our discussing it.) Confusion I'm going to clear up when I speak to CCP tomorrow (later today in RCT, but it's still yesterday in America). So yes, this is sort of console news, but if you read on you'll quite how PC news it really is.

I have been playing EVE for over a year now and this combination with Dust 514 blows my mind.
There have been rumors of this floating through EVE for years now.
Now seeing the reality of it and the features is going to have me watching this closely (and maybe getting a PS3:D)
