Hello,

I'm just going to get to the point of me creating this thread, alright, Well I've seen the configuration text file in the data folder of Silent Hunter 5, I've edited it with the intentions of making the U boat faster however this didn't seem to work. There is a mod currently published which makes the u boat go a lot faster, but I want to change that a bit. I'm not entirely sure how. I wanted to know exactly what steps I needed to take in order to make the U boat go faster. Would this be extremely difficult? Would it be easy? Please help me with this.

Thanks,

Logan

You have to edit the .sim files of the subs to change the max speed (submerged and surfaced). Whatever you sent the .sim file to ensure to update the .cfg file also

Which file would I need to edit to modify the strength of the torpedoes?
The above mods are a bit over the top. I wouldn't mind a bit more speed for the sub, and a faster firing rate for deck guns, but it's not that important. A successful one torpedo attack however I'd be in favor of :DL The above mods are a bit too much in that department.

go in: C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Library ... the file is torpedoes_g7a-e.zon

Thank you sir! :salute:

<groan> It needs a hex editor which I have but have no clue how to use. I understand the Goblin editor will work for this, unfortunately that's above my pay grade too :(
Thanx anyway :)

You can upgrade your engines or go talk with the engineer he can take out some knot more off the engines

it is moderately easy for such simple changes. And goblin already there, comes with SH5.

it is when you trying to figure out more serious stuff when it gets very tricky (like damage models and how the hell do you fix em, lol)
