Hi Kaleuns,

I've noticed that I'm unable to send "contact reports" in stock SHIII. I can send status updates, but even if I'm right next to a ship, with the UZO locked on, I can't click the button that allows me to send a report.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this another bug? :damn:

You have to be in visual contact with 3 or more enemy units, at the instant of sending.
And, you can only do it once every 24 hours.

I see - so it's more for convoys than for lone merchants... Well, that's lame. At least BdU could inform me that that's the case when I press the button, right? :88)

Thanks for the quick reply btw.

You put a smile on my face, as I can remember going through the same thing.

Contact reports sent by you, reveal the target's exact course and speed.
So, allowing single contact reports would make things "a-little" too easy on those of us that use manual targeting. Thus, lameness with a pretty good reason.

I see, good point. I can only imagine how great this game would be if the developers had more time to work and then to provide updates...

For instance, little things like: GPS in map view, contact reports which give exact heading (little tail), the ease with which one sees things at night, the convenient 4-angle ship recognition manual (which makes tdc solutions incredibly simple), convenient stopwatch which only needs to track a target for 10 seconds to spit out a speed, fixed speed increments of slow = 6, medium = 9, easily exploitable AI, etc, etc.

The solution to the above problem would be having to manually enter the target's speed and direction before sending the report. Your accuracy would have a big effect on whether or not it will be intercepted successfully by others.

I realize mods do correct some of these issues, but multiple varying mod packs leads to fracturing of the online community who must play the same game...

While I'm thankful to have a working game (as far as I know, no one else has come close to touching the subject of Atlantic U-boats) there was certainly room for improvement.

Thanks again for the help :salute:
