...just when you were sitting at home alone thinking it couldn't get any worse or futile and mad, the iranians accuse europe of stealing irans rain.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/8527455/Mahmoud-Ahmadinejad-says-Europe-stealing-Irans-rain.html

Sometimes I could just cry with frustration; because we all know iran is crazy like the sun has gotten to their brains, but we also know at least one public figure in our own supposedly sane western country who approaches the same level of nutjob irrationality.
Whilst we all like to laugh at iran (and rightly so) we tend to view our own whackos with less scorn - they are our whackos, afterall.

It's all very well and good pointing the finger at their crazys and saying 'look! look! what a nutter, someone should really do something about him!' then employing the equivalent of crossing to the other side of the road to to avoid boss-eyed eye-contact with our home-grown psychotics, down the local high-street...

Moments after the Iranian president made the startling claim at the inauguration of a dam in a central province, it started to rain.

It's like a quote from the daily mash or something.

I have serious doubts about the future of our species, I really do.

Happy armageddon, by the way. Same time next year then?

Geez.

As an American I would advise all you Europeans to get together and accuse Iran of stealing your sunshine. Can't sound any more asinine than what this idiot said. :nope:

Common its only Iranians.
As soon as they get nukes they will understand the great responsibility that lays on their shoulders and make EU walk on their toe tips.

That was Jim. His secret assignment this week is make sure that any reference to Europe stealing Iran's rain is made to look foolish. What the article doesn't say is that he turned it off again five minutes later. His current task is watching the Iranian bigwigs and waiting until they make another speech so he can flip the switch again.

It's not a conspiracy if it's true. :D

If they want some rain I'm sure Iowa and Missouri will have plenty left over this season. :yep:

EDIT:

So Europe finally got their weather-stealing machine tuned. That's great news. The world will soon be, ehm, theirs, I suppose. How much longer before JPL gets their friggin' HAARP gun sighted in all proper and whatnot? :p2:

It is important to remember what Dr. Ahmadinejad needs to do. He needs to keep distracting Iranian citizens away from his failed domestic program.

Domestically, he is a loser. He was elected because of his plans to improve the domestic programs for the citizens and in six years he has continually failed. His only chance is to "stand firm" against a foreign influence... any foreign influence... even if he has to make one up. Anything to keep this base spun up looking outward so they don't have the time to look inward and ask the embarrassing questions.

What does any politician do when their domestic programs are not working out well--- they focus/emphasize/invent a foreign problem to get the citizens spun up about. Keep them looking over "there" and not looking over "here". :yep:

We do it, they do it, all god's politicians do it.

Don't look here, the "real problem" is out there. It works, for a while.

Agreed. Actually given the over-the-top stupidity of this speech, we should probably welcome more of them from Dr. Ahmadinejad. I imagine they come across just as patently ridiculous to all but the most hardline of the Iranian public and make him look like a goofball in their eyes too.

We actually make fun of him by calling him Borat (that would be the PM, not Respensus)
