Hi everybody!
I recently reinstalled SH3 and I'm having this weird gfx problem when I enter the museum or go to the periscope ingame (interior works fine) - seems like if water needs to be rendered the whole thing goes FUBAR.

Examples:
When I enter the museum

After I quit to menu

Also when I quit to windows the blurryness(?) remains and i have to reboot..

System:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ @ 2,1 GHz
2GB RAM
GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 /w latest drivers [yeah, my 8600GT died on me, I have a gut feeling that this is the problem]
Windows 7

SH3 is updated to latest patch.

Is there a workabout or a solution to this with my current card?
Thanks in advance!

First off, welcome aboard! :sunny:

Second, I think you may have answered your own question. How much video memory is on the card? If it's only 256k, it's going to be bleeding system RAM which certainly won't help.

Maybe try heading over to this site and check your video specs:

Beyond that you can adjust your hardware acceleration and video card options (such as anti-aliasing), but I suspect the 6150 only supports DX9 whereas Win 7 is likely running a newer version.

I seem to pass everything there, even the video card test:

Required / I have

Video RAM 64 MB / 825.6 MB
3D Yes / Yes
Hardware T&L Yes / Yes
Pixel Shader version 1.1 / 3.0 Vertex Shader version 1.1 / 3.0
I have no trouble running games like DW on max, also I can tweak more demanding games like Portal 2 to be playable with my sub-par card.

And I have a solid framerate when in the sub interior in SH3, this graphic problem appears when I go to the periscope/external view/museum... something is with the outside world that my card doesn't like..

As I mentioned before, yes. Driver version 270.61 - checked with the official nvidia auto-driver-detector.

When you install the game you should be getting an info screen during the installation informing you if your specs are good enough (green tick for yes and a red cross for no).

If your all green ticked try reverting to an older driver, that sometimes resolves the problem.

Hi shipmate.

Try these, they are old but I never had a problem with them, 191.07 you can get them here ...........

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Not a bad idea. Rolling back the driver won't hurt so it's certainly worth a try. :yep:

Thank you! Reverting back to that old driver helped!

Now, time to do some serious business...

One thing I've noticed with Nvidia drivers, the same bugs/glitches seem to skip versions. It is almost as if each new driver is built from, not the current driver, but the previous with many of the same "features" passed down generation to generation.
