Is the depth gauge at the front of the coning tower the only way to order depths below 450ft? I remember reading that the one in the control room no longer works for ordering depth.

You can always just order them to dive (D on the keyboard) and then give the order to level off (A on the keyboard) when you've got to where you want to be. Just make sure you don't forget.

I have had problems before when I've been deep diving and I can't recover from the the dive, even by blowing ballast. So be careful out there!

Aye. If I'm not mistaken, there's supposedly slight fault in the game's programming that causes issues at very deep depths. I think the cutoff is around 600 feet, whereupon depth control becomes a crapshoot. The loss in control will quickly result in a crushed boat for most submarines, although I seem to recall modded boats can sometimes survive long enough to get out of there. Regardless, once ya hit that level of depth, the game's behaviour is unpredictable.

Depends on the mod soup you're running, I'd guess. Using TMO2.1 and RSRD, I find the depth guage in the control room works just fine. But if you go much below 500 feet, it is just about impossible to maintain depth and silent running. It just keeps going down - you may even have to blow tanks to get it back to 500', where it will maintain depth and speed.

Good hunting!

Yea, with TMO you can go past 600 ft with no damage. I can control the boat with speed and get it up by using the P key. For whatever reason that works bringing you up better than manual settings.

Several of the depth controls still work fine with TMO inside the sub, but as stated D and A work just as good.
