The last of the 'Boscombe Down' section in my collection....the Canberra.

This was to be the end of adding to the collection until I sorted out my sons house purchase and took occupancy in the man cave....but I've seen this Chinook from Afghanistan and started bidding for it :DL

Lost the bid on the Afghanistan Chinook so I purchased the Beirut example instead (slightly rarer because only 1200 were made unlike the 1500 of the Afghanistan Chinook).

AA34212 Chinook HC.1B ZA705/EZ, No, 18 Sqn., Beirut...83/1200

Comes with two sets of rotor blades for inflight and landed positions but I haven't fitted them...I'll wait until she goes on display.

The rear ramp lowers to reveal a crew member inside.

The looks good Jim, nice that you get straight and droopy blades.

My only gripe would be that the plough/big dipper stars (from Ursa Major) are 7 sqn's badge, not 18 - they have a red Pegasus.

Back from work and had a 'proper' look......

The website states '18 Sqn' (bottom of page)

The box states '7 Sqn' (thankfully) :DL

All is well in the world of Jim's diecast then. Good, I'm glad it's a keeper.

What's next then Jim?

I think you'll have to move on to some of the bigger cold war jets, V-force stuff maybe? :hmmm:

Another Jaguar arrived yesterday but I haven't had time to photograph her yet.

The V-force (Vulcans, Victors etc) are very tempting but the scale is 1/144 and that is the 'put-off'.

She doesn't get a lot of the attention that other British jets have got, like the Tonka and Tiffie, a sound aircraft though, good for beating the Rush hour traffic on the motorways:

My first experience of losing a pilot on station was a Jag crash at coltishall in '96. Amazing how the whole unit feels it.

The best thing whilst at Coltishall was the simulated airfield attacks where four uber-low Jags would appear simultaneously over the airfield, at great speed. :yeah:

Also recall a C-141 taking off fully laden en-route to Greece with F-16 spares, I was on air traffic's balcony and we all had bets as to how much runway it'd use compared to the Jags (who used most of it), we all thought equal or greater than a Jag but reality was near half!!!

The Harrier is one of the coolest looking aircraft around. Not to mention what it can do with or without a runway. She ranks up there with one of my favorites. That being the F-4 Phantom.

Nice model Jim!

If your referring to '004' the Gemini site has it listed as 'sold out' so I reckon an auction such as evilBay or a small retailer would be the best bet.

The term 'Broon Dog' refers to 'Newcastle Brown Ale'...there used to be hospital wards frequented by those who formed an addiction to the ale.

Actually, the pics make it look better than it is! I had some silvering issues with the decals since I couldn't get a glossy enough coat applied prior to putting the markings on. Do you not have an F3 already? And are any of your lightnings XR728? It's probably the most famous lightning purely for being Binbrooks 'flagship', under John Spencer's command towards the end.

Gerald...Steve is simply asking a relevent question regarding the need to repost a collection of pictures when a simple textual comment would suffice.

If there was a question regarding one of the pictures then reposting the individual picture of relevence would probably be the best course of action.

Keep a cool head matey :03:

Well, while you're bumping, let's put some pics in there, shall we?

Went back to that bloke yesterday after work, the little sod had put the price up by a quid since he knew I was interested. He also had some nice Battle of Britain/Dunkirk Spit, Hurri, 109 and Stuka. Would have liked them, but not at thirty quid for the lot, no. So I stuck with getting three from him (and the Jayhawk is from an earlier purchase):

I don't think IDing aircraft is his particular strong suite, or he couldn't be arsed to put them on the right stands. This is in fact a Mirage 2000.

;)

If quoting I too delete the pics before posting unless it's with something specific and a few other posts have appeared in between. Not everyone has superfast broadband, or the ability to download vast quantities of data - I dread to think how much Reece pays for his interweb connectivity! :o

On second thoughts - it can't be too much otherwise he wouldn't post pic after pic of bloomin' funny cats!

Back OT - nice new additions both of you :yeah:, and I think most here can tell that a French delta-winged jet is not a Russian attack helicopter :arrgh!:

1:87 scale is also know as HO scale (even then there are variations). OO is 1.76. Why manufacturers couldn't get together and use the same scale(s) for all model anythings - it would be great if your airfix kit you've just build could fit nicely with your Hornby train set, etc..

Everything is sorted...cabinets are up, wooden shelves replaced with glass ones, boxes stored in every nook and cranny and most importantly of all, the aircraft are now on display.

I'm going to create a part two thread covering the building and siting etc. soon but need to take a few more pictures first.

Here's the helicopter section (cropped) as a taster:

There are two sections covering the Harrier and a single section each for Boscombe Down, Lightnings, Tornados, SAR, Chinooks, Gulf War, Canberras, Hawks, Gannets etc.
