I was returning from a patrol and my game just shut down

And now I get one of those "xxxx has encountered a problem and needs to close" errors when I open the save file. All my other save files work just fine...

Any ideas?

This happens for me if i head into port with excessive time compression.

I usually throttle back gradually and dock at no more than 64x. Plus make a save 200nm out just to be safe =p

Good luck

Will it work with 32 bit? I've always wondered - because it irks me that I spent 200 bucks on 4gb of Corsair and I can't find many patches that work with 32

Thanks

I dont think that this is going to help you take a look at the thread about this patch seems it is not of 32 bit:http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=177503
I hope you did not install this because it may end up causing you more problems.I'd ask in that thread before you try it out.

Many players get game issues from super high time compression and SH4 though a fairly fun game has its buggy bits so you cant expect it to run perfectly.I'd look through threads about
the different game bugs and how to avoid them.

Another reason might be temperature issues if it's hot weather at your place.

What I would give for it to be warm... Lol

The 3gb thing really helped my frame rates, but, still - CTD ONLY with that file

I just noticed you are roughly on the 40th degree parallel. I'm on the 53rd, and we had splendid weather here(between 20 and 25 degrees centigrade) the past 2 weeks in the Netherlands. It did infact kill 2 games I was playing on my laptop. And they were paused actually. Anyway, it's never a bad idea to inspect the case for dust. Just be carefull with static discharge if you decide to clean it.

I have 1 fan with a fried motor but my auxillary fan kicked in and my system is running fine

But if it were that, more than just the one file would be affected, right?

Could I upload it and have someone check it out?

Do you have any other (processor heavy) apps running in the background? Maybe something new that you recently installed? Once in a great while, I experience a CTD only to find that the culprit is an auto-update feature on one of my programs. Try shutting down (if you must) any virus scanners or other CPU heavy apps while you're playing and see if that helps any.
