In my opinion 'The Hunt' tutorial does show you the most simple method of plotting a target's course and then lining up for the kill. As all you need to use to follow it are the map plotting tools to find the target's course, and when it comes to the 'shooting' part it shows you the fast 90 TDC method, which means all you need is target speed, so you don't need to find AOB or range.
It is a pretty solid and uncomplicated method.
However whilst being one of the easiest methods to follow, it does require you to take alot of time to carefully plot the target's course, and then manouver into an AOB90 position, which doesn't take advantage of your ability to fire from any AOB and at gyro angles other than zero.
So if you mean 'easier' as in 'tactically more flexible' then there are other good tutorials out there:
OLC made a good tutorial video to go with his gui mod. But to follow his methods exactly you'll need to download a GUI mod which gives you access to a RAOBF wheel and a whizz wheel, such as his own, Ujagd Tools, ACM or Magui to mention a few.
You can download his video tutorial here:

But to be really honest when it comes to plotting it really doesn't get much simpler than marking a target's position on the map in timed increments and then drawing a line through them to find its course, as in 'the hunt' tutorial. And when it comes to shooting it doesn't get anymore simple than pointing your bow at the broadside of the target.
PS Manual plotting and TDC does have a learning curve, and I was totally confused by it all when I started playing SH3, but it does get much easier once you have grasped the basics. If you have some patience you'll soon get the hang of it, if not there's always god's eye view and weapon officer assistence. Good Luck!
Edit: There is a video version of 'The Hunt', just in case you didn't know about it... I found it easier to follow than the written version.
