Now that I have a working MP and kruats and arc have the right checksum, I say we have a weekly online HoI3 SF game. Only requirement is 2.04D.
If anyone is interested we can start working out time and day.

I say if we do start it we start in 1936 and play until a complete winner or 1946.

Requirements:
HoI3 + Semper Fi
2.04D patch
Access to the metaserver

Rules:
Once you chose a nation you have to stick with it until the end or you get wiped out.
If you get wiped out you can choose a minor nation that's aligned with your faction.
That's about it rule wise, unless someone can think of something.

Current Players:
Spike88-Regno d'Italia(Italy)
Krauts-Großdeutsches Reich(Germany)
Arclight-Old Blighty(England)
Raptor-Сою́з Сове́тских Социалисти́ческих Респу́блик(Russia)
Lionclaw-Dai Nippon Teikoku(Japan)

Sounds good to me :D

If you're planning on joining, claim your nation now. I claim Italy.

Germany!

Guess I could give Japan a try. Would be rather intersting. :hmmm:

Now that the 3 main Axis nations are full, we need some Allies members.

Edit: I'm typing this out real fast before going to work, so I'll add your name(arc) to the roster when I get back.

Human oponents?

Gonna be a short war. :O:

Depending on when the game is going to be, I would go for the Soviets. I'm assuming on-request pauses will be allowed to manage ridiculous numbers of units, right?

Arclight

Well, there goes my neighborhood. :D

Think I'll go read that manual again.

You better invade America at your earliest convenience.

@raptor the occasional pause is not a problem.

You boys better post up some pics later for us non-playing fellas! :DL

Question: does a support brigade apply bonuses to all brigades in a battle, or only to those from it's own divison?

Say you want to attack fortifications: attach engineers to all divisions involved or just 1?

I'm pretty sure it only effects the division it's attached to, though I'm not certain about that.

Got the game installed currently; might join. Anyone have a link for 2.04D handy?

Think so too, but it isn't stated specifically.

I would think it would affect the whole battle.

What is the purpose of the Military Police?

IIRC in HOI 2 they where something your could attach to a unit to help repression.

Raptor1

Aye, military police brigades are used behind the lines to suppress partisan effects and uprisings.

Krauter
04-25-11, 08:39 PM
MP affects partisan suppresson,

As for support brigades they affect the whole battle, however there is only so much "frontage" so to speak, i.e.: only so much room on the battlefield for a unit. Thus, unless its artillery, once the frontage is maxed units will wait for reinforcement to join the battle.

I will be able to play anytime... but having just got a job today, as well as crappy internet here at "home" I don't know how consisten I'll be til I'm back in Montreal.

Edit: I should be available anytime after 8PM EST everyday. Just PM me here or on Steam and I'll get on as quick as possible. Also, if we need more people on the Allies/Commintern side I will switch from Germany and go to another country

Are you sure about this? For one, all support brigades have a frontage of zero, so you can fit in as many as you want in a battle (As opposed to combat brigades which are limited). Secondly, it seems to me the bonuses Arclight is referring to, such as the Engineer movement, attack and defence bonuses in certain types of terrain and forts, modify the division's relevant statistics rather than give out a general bonus.

What would be a good time for everyone else? I'm fine with the 8:30PM EST(on the days I'm not working at that time), but that's 1:30 AM GMT.

Since we are a bit uneven im going to go British.

I'm using a mod for my Sp campaign so that might have something to do with it...

@Spike: Nooooo I dont't want one of my most important allies controlled by a Computer (who is stupid)....

Well you need some challenge. :O:

Germany pretty much steam rolled France by February 1940 in my current SP game, I except you to do it half the time.

I'd really like to play America, but 1936-1941 is pretty dull.

Unless Arc wants to take over the UK, we do need someone to be the faction leader.

Krauter

Does Oberon have HOI3? I'd see him as a UK player :haha: ... So everyone has an ally but poor old Deutschland :(

Technically you're the one with an ally with Arc in Japan. I only have myself in the Allies, and Raptor has himself in the Commiterm.

Although if Arc is willing to take over Britain, I'll go back to Italy. I like the idea of owning the Balkans.

Arclight
04-28-11, 04:23 AM
Right so UK then... it's what I've been playing for practice: fairly secure early war but you can get some troops mixed in with the fighting easily.

It's really the only faction where I have even the faintest idea what I'm doing to be honest.

Arclight
04-28-11, 07:16 AM
Erm... question: I'm giving a theatre HQ automation, but it turns itself off without doing anything not long after. Any ideas?

* Ah, I see. You basically define a front line.

Krauter
04-28-11, 07:00 PM
Hehe but the Allies and Comintern are allies until Cold War/WW3 kicks off :D

Anyways.. we'll have to get this party started sometime. PM me a time when you're all available (on subsim) and we'll get rolling.

Spike88

Started the first game. We got up until April 03, 1936 before Krauter disappeared ending the game.

The only progress right now has been my(Italy) advance into Ethiopia, which I had to manually take control of due to the Torbuk HQ being incompetent.

Aaaah, right; Lion: those numerals are the relative tech-level of the units. Say you researched lvl 3 of all techs affecting it directly (like armament, airframe, engines and fuel-tanks for aircraft) and the unit is fully up to date, it will have "III" there in that box. Something like "II+" means it has some components above level 2.

Lionclaw
05-02-11, 11:53 AM
Ah, that makes sense, thanks! :salute:

Krauter
05-02-11, 05:56 PM
Aaah those are the numerals you were talking about.

Also, if you know when a certain piece of technology came out, or what components made it up then you can get a "unit" or type of unit that you like and use that.

I.e: for Germany, I know that if I research Heavy Tank Cannon 8.8cm L/51 and its other techs up to that level I will get the Tiger. But that is just if you like using certain types of units.

Also note that, even if you have level III, IV or V units going up against I, II or III units, yours won't always come out on top. This is especially true in naval and air combat where the doctrines play a HUGE role in how your units fare.

Some essential doctrine techs for land are: (in my opinion) Spearhead, Grand Battle Plan, Overwhelming Firepower (gives 5 brigades to a div.) and one that shortens time between attacks and raises supply throughput.

If you have any more questions, just post :D

I haven't seen krauter online in a while, and my Internet is down until the 20th. If anything we can continue with or without krauts this weekend.

Krauter
05-15-11, 08:15 PM
Give me a time and I will try to be there everyone.

Internet crashes notwithstanding I'm available most of the times on Weekends and 7EST onwards on weekdays. Just shoot me a PM when you want to play (like Spike did last time...) and I will be good to go.

Well I think picking a (rough) time-slot might be an idea. Lot of diference in time-zones.

I'm available after I wake up Saturday and before I go to work Sunday. So...
1pm(13:00)-12am(0:00)EST which I believe is 1800-500 GMT for Saturday
10am-6:30pm(1830)EST or 1300-2330 GMT Sunday.

Same as Spike for Sunday, except for Saturday it's from 330pm-12am

Well, the dude at AT&T put my address as Avenue instead of court. Even though the Avenue address is only a block away, they had to cancel and re-order the package. So I have a new installation date of Thursday May 26. :-? So the next game will be next weekend. At my parents house to buy the new DLC.
