I have never even heard of most of those.
Looking at this clip, I am not sure if I ought to be ashamed or... proud that I recognized most of them. It certainly shows that I have to too much free time at my hand. :shifty:
In Star Wars i just loved the how the spaceships were designed.
It wasn't much of SF movie but they had the fleet just right.
(not that i would know for sure:D)
Here's five not on that list.

Nor the Akira class:

The Negh'var and Galor class deserve an honourable mention too:

UFO awesome TV series. One of my favourite SF programs. :yeah:
I think it still has the best opening title sequence.

Aerodynamics are irrelevant in the vacuum of space, so you can get some funky form follows function shapes. The ungainly looking Apollo Lunar Excursion Module is a good example.

Most real life space craft have a aerodynamic shroud that protects them on launch. After they leave the atmosphere the shroud is jettisoned.
The everlasting Soyuz operates with that design...

The millenium falcon is a good ship something I would own if I was a starman from the future.
Also the Mothership from PC game Homeworld is a good one
See the mothership around 2.52 Though watch the whole Homeworld intro amazing stuff. When I first played Homeworld I had goosebumps during the intro, made you feel like you were part of this lost civilization and was on a journey to save mankind! But then come mission 5 I could not beat the waves of enemies millions died because of me. :wah:

Even though the clip says "from television and movies," I must admit to being disappointed that Pillar of Autumn/Halo/Covenant ships didn't make an appearance, if only because of their import in making that first Halo game the success that it - and as a result, the X-Box console - turned out to be.
Glad to see Red Dwarf and Sulaco made the list, and Nostromo, too... but neither of the latter would have mattered were it not for the Space Jockey's ship... and "cargo."

Yeah, just a shame that the thrust required to do so will likely devastate most of the surrounding countryside and kill everyone in the vicinity...

They took it apart, and brought it up a few pieces at a time. That's why it took four landings before they could drive it.

Unless you watch that POS remake star trek movie that came out in 2009 then you would have seen the Enterprise being made in pieces on earth and "somehow" put in to orbit.
Impulse drives have a lot to answer for, with the whole Voyager landing on planets thing. Apparently the Defiant could do that too, but had no need for such a gimmick. The Enterprise D could too, but only when Deanna was driving.

Apparently the refit constituion class could land the 1º (saucer ) hull as a huge lifeboat! Can not recall if the original design had such feature.

The original Constitution class (the original series) was supposed to be able to do it, but they never got around to ever doing, or mentioning it. If I recall correctly, it was mentioned in some early series documents, but never made it into the show until TNG.
Edit:
Hrm...
KIRK: I'm sick of hearing that word can't. Get that ship out of there.
SCOTT: Sir, we're doing everything within engineering reason.
KIRK: Then use your imagination. Tie every ounce of power the ship has into the impulse engines. Discard the warp drive nacelles if you have to, and crack out of there with the main section, but get that ship out of there!
Take it for what you will.

I take it to mean the later shows had incompetent crews that lost their ships too often. :)
That was a "meh" list, IMHO. Better to include books :)

Also in the original series episode Tomorrow is Yesterday the Enterprise gets thrown back in time and ends up in Earth's atmosphere and is able to operate normally, it even gets chased down by a 1960's era F-104 Starfighter.

When's the last time you watched that episode? It's been a long time for me, but I seem to recall they were doing anything but operating normally. I think they even mentioned the ship not being built to operate in an atmosphere.

Couple of years. :haha:
Then again when was the last time the Enterprise operated normally? ;)
EDIT: Just watched the start of the episode and the only problem was that the Enterprise had was it was sluggish in the atmosphere with damaged engines.

Hmm...:-?:hmmm:
Maybe I just assume with simple '60s mentality that anything shaped like that would have to be non-atmospheric. No aerodynamics at all, just brute force.

Don't forget the ship's Structural Integrity Field holds the ship together stronger than its bare metal alone. Also the ship's deflector could create an aerodynamic bubble around the ship.
