If you had to pick one state to live in here in the US, which one and for what reasons?

Which states will be the power players in the future?

When the world comes to an end in 2012, where would you want to live?:haha:

Grrr, you had to mention in the US, otherwise it would be in a state of undress/arousal or just plain old drunken.

Somebody, somewhere has recently put what the best state to live in is, I can't find the thread but think it was North Dakota...

Plasma wouldn't be to bad either eh.

As for provinces in Amerika... eh I dunno some place where I can build an impenetrable underground fortress like in Dwarf Fortress, complete with Tantrum Spirals, Elf Genocide and Magma Moats.

I'll stick with the UK and before you ask "What state is that"? Let me tell you it's in a right state but home is home every time.

I'd also have to go with Hawaii. Either that or Alaska. Tropical paradise or majestic winter landscape; hard to choose.

Jersey..not thanks...but.....my uncle lives in Hacketstown NJ. Nice bit of country.

If you can get away and west of the the 95 corridor running through NJ things are very nice. A lot of country side.

I kinda liked the eight years I spent in Omaha Nebraska.

The weather is a bit rough but the people are nice. Between Omaha and Lincoln you have two cities big enough to get into trouble, but at the same time a 2 hour drive later and you are the only person on the earth.

Cost of living is pretty low too. I would not object if I could get a job (or even retire) near, but not in, Omaha. :yep:

California...as it was 40 years ago, when I did live there.

No real choice. There are a lot of places I wouldn't mind living, but lacking a good incentive Utah's fine for now.

Florida. I never want to leave. Love the weather. Hurricanes I can deal with.

P.S.: I'm a Hurricane Andrew survivor even though I was not a resident of FL at the time...worst vacation timing ever.

I love NC, can drive to the mountains or the beach in about 4 hours from mid state. Weather OK, cept for all the tornadoes.

Only issue is illegals are big here, taken over most our small towns.

Anywhere in Canada for me. But if I had to pick one state in the US. Oregon for me, its the closest I can get to having a weather system similar to where I am in Australia. Second choice would be over in Wisconsin.

Out of all the US states I've been to (and by now I've at least briefly been in what... somewhere around 15?), I would have to go with Colorado.

The weather in Washington State to the north isn't much different. Both states tend to be cloudy and rainy in the west and dry and arid in the east.

Unless you go to a certain part of NJ, or Calif. goes back in time!

In the US I'd have to say Maine. Simply a beautiful landscape.

NSW all the way here in Aus though.

Ever been to Coffs?
My home.
Awesome beaches, not too big not too small.
Actually my parent's house is about 10 to 15 mins out of town.
Heading north on the Bruce Highway.
You turn off into an area that is just surrounded by big gum trees, banana plantations and beautiful ocean views.
So surreal, turning off a national highway and then bam! Another world.

Yep done quite a few holidays up there. I was passing through from Brisvegas weekend before last and stopped there for lunch. Beautiful part of the world.

What I like about NSW is you get every sort of climate from sub tropical with great beaches, through desert, forests to alpine. I've even done the double surf and ski in one weekend once.
