Can't really answer that. All depends on the genre. I can't honestly say that I have one and only one favourite actor across all the genre. :nope:

Robert Downey Jr. perhaps, always entertaining to watch. :hmmm:

Agreed, but if i had to pick one, i would pick Tom Hanks. Versatile actor, capable of conveying and invoking a lot of emotion, i can hardly think of a single role that he didnt nail just perfectly.

Judging by my history of which DVDs I put in the computer when I am playing my video games I would say Warner Oland :D

This is a tough one, not to pick someone but to narrow down the list.

So.... actors I will watch in just about anything:

Peter O'Toole
Humphrey Bogart
Ronald Colman
Claude Rains
Sean Connery
Paul Newman
Toshiro Mifune
Jürgen Prochnow (and man have I watched some bad movies because of him, sad to say Hollywood has not done him justice)
Johnny Depp
Russell Crowe
And on the distaff side:

Bette Davis
Kate Hepburn
Ingrid Bergman
Sigourney Weaver
Frances McDormand
Emma Thompson

You know who else I like and no I'm not gay, Kevin Costner..well, he made two great movies, Dancing with Wolves and Open Range. He always doe's a great job directing and acting in his westerns.

just remembered one, he did voice acting:

Mel Blanc

The voice behind all the memorable cartoon characters of the past

Lee Van Cleef also holds a special place for me. I also have particular reverence for Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood, Gary Oldman, Toshiro Mifune and the only reason that I used to watch Entourage, Malcolm McDowell.

I want to add an actor many Americans may have seen but didn't fully realize who he was: Ken Takakura. He was the Japanese detective in "Black Rain" and the team manager in "Mr. Baseball" among other roles you may have seen. I first saw him as a star in Japanese Yakuza (gangster) films and later in many other dramatic and comedy roles. He comes across as a blend of Gary Cooper, Robert Mitchum, and John Wayne with a remarkable depth of acting style. He actually co-starred with Robert Mitchum in the Sydney Pollack directed and Paul Schrader written film "The Yakuza". He starred in a film titled "Poppoya" as a railway station master who is beset by tragedy and family loss. His portrayal of the character is one of the most touching and emotional perfomances I have ever seen. If you don't know his work, it is well worth the effort to find and view his films.

Depends on the mood but these six are always in the top ten and in no particular order:

Spencer Tracy
Burt Lancaster
Morgan Freeman

Audrey Hepburn
Cate Blanchette
Katherine Hepburn

Gotland

Tough decision. Depends also on genre. One of my all time favorite dramatic actors is Robert DeNiro. And it helps that im a huge Scorsese fan.

Gonna have to think about the rest, so hard to choose favorites.

Of the more comedic actors, i think it's easier for me picking a favorite.

So, favorite comedic actor for me is Jack Lemmon.

Gregory Peck should've been on my list, I'll watch him in anything.

I didn't even get into the Brit stage-trained lot (aside from O'Toole, I guess). :D

Brando's cool and certainly gave some great performances but I'm not sure I'd watch an otherwise mediocre production just to see him do his stuff.

Sledgehammer, you've got one of my favorites there in Steve McQueen.
He could say more with facial expressions than most actors could with a whole page of dialogue.

Paul Newman, George C. Scot and Boggie also make my list.

Oh, there's nothing quite as jarring (or fun) as seeing Gregory Peck play Josef Mengele.

It's hard to say what my favorites are, since I don't watch many movies anymore, but here goes:

John Wayne (especially liked 'True Grit')
Steve McQueen ('Hell is for Heroes')

Also liked:

Michael Caine (watched 'Play Dirty' and 'The Ipcress File' recently)
(also 'Funeral in Berlin' is a must see)
Clint Eastwood (many westerns)
Burt Lancaster ('The Train' and 'The Scalphunters')
Jimmy Stewert ('Flight of the Pheonix')

I'm not too familier with the actors, besides Van Johnson, but 'Battleground' deserves mention here.
