Hi all

I'm getting ready to upgrade my complete system that ive had since 2001...she's old. Anyway, I pretty much know what I'm getting for the computer, but I could use some advice on the extras like a good widescreen monitor 23-24", a good keyboard (nothing too fancy), and a good simple mouse. Ive been looking around at various sites and my head is spinning from too much info.

I recently watched "lets play Silent Hunter V" & I got such a kick out of the game I decided I must finally upgrade so I can play it. And there are some other upcoming titles I'd like to play, IL2 COD, A-10c, Armed Assault 2, and the likes..

I brought a ViewSonic 24" Wide LCD Full HD VX2439WM (with HDMI) nothing fancy and good enough for gaming and watching dvds cost me $300. For a mouse and keyboard any cheapo will do I use a Atec Laser mouse that comes with all these extra buttons on the side/tops for gaming that I never bothered to setup and configure since owning it. The Atec wasn't cheap though.

I wouldn't mind getting this mouse :)

Ill look into that monitor. I imagine there are plenty of monitors that will surprise me, seeing that im presently on an old standard monitor that weights a ton! (no widescreen, no HD).

I'm really looking forward to all this.

That Cyborg mouse is one bad boy I imagine, however I'm looking for a more middle of the road nothing fancy mouse. I was pointed to a Logiteck MX518, at another web site. It looked about what I'm searching for. Havent made a final decision on anything yet.

I've been looking at this keyboard seems simple, yet holding everything I believe I'll need. Any one have it care to put in there comments? pros vs cons

Excellent board, not exactly simple though. All I wanted was a decent backlit board, but there's simply not too many of those around.

Macro keys are easy to use and program. Handy to hold an e-mail address or password, if you feel comfortable programming a password into it.

Cons... I guess be carefull not to scrape anything on it: the paint can chip off, but that hasn't happened here yet and I've been using and moving it about a fair bit. And it lacks some of the hotkeys you find on simpler boards, to open a browser or media player for example. (does have prev/next, pause and stop for WindowsMP + volume control and mute button)

Bit overpriced considering you'll likely only use half of it (features that is, not keys :O:). Stuff like the build-in soundcard and ports for a headset, and I don't even use half of the macro keys. USB port goes unused as well; thing to note: it's low powered. Can run something like a mouse of it, but don't go plugging in a USB harddrive or something.

Its a good board for gaming. The reason being is pressing two keys at the same time will allow certain movement of your character or vehicle. Basically, stick with gaming mouse and keyboard.

I thought I should mention the GPU that I'll be using with this monitor is the GTX580 x 2.

Been looking at 1200 vs 1080, can anyone tell me if a higher pixel count of the 1200 will be an issue with the 580 graphics card? I want to be able to max out settings with my games & if the 1200 pixel monitor hinders that I'll go with the 1080.

Are you kidding? SLI gives better returns on higher resolutions.
