Well.. since I've been going nuts over HOI2, and now HOI3 I figured to try and have a thread similar to the MC one where we can post links to AARs, talk about experiences or ask for help as well as try and set up Multiplayer sessions.

Edit: I kind of talked about it with Arc last night, but would anyone be interested in doing a Multiplayer session with Hoi3?

I downloaded HOI3 a few days ago. I'm still in the "learning curve" phase, though I don't know if I'm quite sold on the game or not. I guess playing Europa III so much has me not liking some of the aspects of HOI3. The diplomacy system in particular. I think it's kind of fun trying to influence countries to your particular faction, but I'm not keen on the "Threat/Neutrality" aspect.

Yea..I'm still trying to figure out how to use green flagged units -.-...

Invasion of Poland took 2 weeks more than I normally take due to a green flagged korps in the south not driving on Krakow.

I'd be interested in a MP game, I was even thinking of one the other day.

As for units under AI control. As the lead unit, right click(or left click, I forget) on territories to give your units orders to attack those territories. As long as the unit is well supplied they should make some quick progress(atleast my Torbuk HQ did when I ordered it to take over Ethiopia as Italy)

There's my problem, I right click and the objective or orders do not change.

If I position the objective bar over a province and double right click on it it'll set an objective on that province, but the army won't move (set on attack or blitz)

:damn: v2.04d on Semper Fi, wrong checksum so no Multiplayer for me. Uninstall and load Semper Fi again.. can't get it back to v2.04d as I don't even know how I did that.. :damn:

Semper Fi is up to 2.04e. It's a hotfix for 2.04d. If your using Steam then the checksum sill be different then the non-steam users.

I'm using steam HOI3 and GamersGate Semper Fi.


What I'm getting at is that before uninstall it was 2.04d(or e i dont remember) and now its only 2.00

Found the link to the bloody updater.. think the max I'll get is 2.03c but its at least able to run ICE :woot:

OK so what the hell.. I had a mod that was not working at all with my version of SF.. so I deleted all local content on steam to uninstall and then redownloaded and installed. Now after taking those vanilla files and copy/pasting them to desktop to patch to SF 2.04d, they STILL have the goddam mod files in them. How do I get rid of these?

Try deleting by hand after telling steam to delete. I dont think steam will remove local files that have been altered by a mod.

Note the Helicopters "1945" and Medical Evacuation+Pilot Rescue "1946" although these could already be in the game and I'm just not aware of it.


Edit: Nevermind the option is already in 2.04D. Still hopefully we'll get an extension. What's the point of upgrading Russia without having a Cold war?

You can still extend the time line.. you just won't have any new techs unless you create some yourself.

I may get this game through steam. The whole complete HoI 3 collection for only 18 bucks.

I'm buying a childhood friend Shogun 2 and in return maybe I ask him to get this game through steam for me as a gift. That is when the shipment arrived. It's been 3 weeks and a day and the shipment hasn't arrived.

Is there any problem with HoI 3 steam version? Will I be able to play online?

No problems I'm aware of, apart from (I think) gauranteed corruption after installing Semper Fi. Deleted the lot and let it redownload and then the check-sum checked out. Played SP and MP without problems.

Well I think if you start off with the whole package you won't have issues. Just happened to me and others that had the original and then later put SF on top of it. Something goes 'screwy' then. :-?

Ok thanks I intend to just go buy the whole HoI 3 collection. That is if my old friend agreed to pay me back through getting me steam HoI 3 collection.

This is untrue, lion and krauts don't have the steam versions but can still play with us steam users.

Ahh... they fixed it then. Used to be the Steam Checksum was different then those with the GG/Box version.

And downloading the new DLC. Looking forward to trying it.

BTW, getting just HoI3 and SF costs only $40. The complete collection thing includes all the DLC as well.

I just thought I would play Argentine after spending some time with Great Britain. I have fond memories playing Argentine in HoI 2.

After setting up research The HQ tells me they needed a tactical bomber so I clicked on the build button. This is in January 1st 1936. Then it dawned upon me a few minutes later that the tactical bomber squadron would only finish building sometime in 1941 :dead:

And I exited the game and will go back to my Britain saved game.:D

Yes, that happens. You just have to restart the game to make it go back to normal.

Generally I don't build what my HQs ask me for unless I deem myself that that is what is needed.. I take it more as a suggestion

They even asked [playing Britain] for a tactical bomber squadron to be based at St. John island just off the coast of Canada. :haha:
